What if when I get my Tivo Series3 I record 300 hours of great stuff and the box goes kaflooey...bye bye recordings, or is there some way to salvage the recordings? Or, if I go through my three year sub and don't reenlist, can I still watch what I recorded?

If the box dies, you lose your recordings (unless you have transferred them to your PC using TiVoToGo or to another TiVo box using Multi-Room Viewing.

You can still watch recordings if the subscription has expired.

Note that if you have a Series 3, you will likely have many fewer than 300 hours of recordings, assuming you record any HD.

Depends what part of the box broke. If its the drive, and its totally dead, then, yeah, they're gone. If the power supply or something dies, then, if you're comfortable repairing it, you can indeed do that - or pay TiVo to do it for you.
