Record Light Yellow Instead of Red

My HR10-250 record light has been constantly on for over 15 hours and is yellow instead of red. Also, there is nothing being recorded.

I'm hesitant to do a restart because it otherwise seems to be working.

Any thoughts?

If nothing is recording, then go ahead and restart the system.

I've seen it on occasion. It never seemed to be an issue and went away on its own after the next nightly update.

Set a test recording and see if it records that. Otherwise, a swift kick in the pants (restart) is in order.

yellow = phone in use.

As a DTV receiver and a Tivo, there are two things that can try to use the phone... calling DTV, and calling Tivo. There are numerous ways the machine can think the phone is in use, but it not even be off-hook. Either ignore it or reboot.
