So I have a Series 3 with 3 year pre-pay (2 years left roughly) and a Series 2 at $6.95/mo with a 3 year commitment (roughly 2 years left).

I'm thinking of switching to DirecTV. I'd love to keep the S2 to use with Amazon and Rhapsody, but it sounds like to sell my Series 3 (and the buyer to get any benefit of the pre-pay) I would have to give them my account. (Username/PW)

Can I transfer my S2 to another account and not void my committment?

How should I handle this?

It is a bit of a touch subject, since the account/commitment is supposed to stay with you.

You can get another Series 2, transfer the Series 3 subscription plan to it sell the Series 3 without sub, and have two DVRs compatible with DirecTV on your original plans.

To keep just the Series 2, i think the best you can do is sell it to a friend you can trust won't abuse the system.

Oh interesting. You can transfer the pre-pay to another box?

What is the penalty for canceling early?

This is a whole lot easier than you guys are making it out to be.
Cancel the S2 sub and then transfer the prepay sub from the S3 to the S2.
don't mind me I just didn't reread the Op when I was reading the newer responses.

He has 3 year commitments on both.

But it looks like they prorate the cancellation fee? So if I cancel, and pay say $150, then transfer my prepay to the S2... I'm saving $6.95/mo for 2 years, so it might be a wash, yet I can still sell the S3 and recoup that money.

Hmm....
