I wish someone at Direct knew what they were talking about. I have been going around and around about my HD channels that I have been getting 70 to 79 I was having trouble with them stations going off and back on. Called Direct was told that on the 15th you wont be able to get any HD channels with the old dish 3 LNB and the 10-250 box. Like they said as of the 15th I have not been able to get any HD channels. I was messing around today log into my account at direct updated my service I already had HD access $9.99. They have this other HD extra free for three months so I updated my service with the HD extra. Went to one of my TVs to see if I could get any HD. Now I am getting all The HD channels I have had before 70 to 79. All they had to do is tell me that I have to upgrade to this service. Would of saved me allot of headaches.

i hate to say it, but if you have no mpeg4 equipment you should be grandfathered in and not have to pay after the next 3 months free are up. I'd rather fight that battle now than later though. Id call back and ensure you will not have to pay more in 3 months.

I do have one HR20. Sorry but i do not understand pay after 3 months is up? How much is it now For there HD service. I have been paying 9.99 per month. Now that they have added more stations how much is it going to cost now?

ok since you have hr20 forget my post, sorry it's wrong for your setup

but even with the hr20 you will have to pay 4.99 extra in 3 months if you want the 5 channels currently in the extra pak that you are receiving. But you will still get all the other HD channels for your 9.99

To be clear, the extra pack for those channels is $4.99 per month but they give you the first 3 months free.

No no no. If Fuch has a 3 lnb dish, then he only has one or more hr10-250(s).

Fuch, DirecTV is fooling around with their HD channels trying to create two tiers so they can charge more. They put that into effect 12/15, but it only applies to the folks who are getting the new mpeg4 HD channels.

I believe in your case, it sounds like you were only getting a few HD channels in the 70's range and you should not have to pay any more beyond the $9.99 at least for 3 more months. Then, we'll see what DirecTV does after that.

So, my suggestion is don't call back. Just sit tight for 3 months and enjoy the channels you were previously getting while this sorts out.

That is a good question to ask. Fuch, what do you have? Your posts have been conflicting. You may, indeed, have an HR20 with a 3LNB but that is rather uncommon. They usually install both at the same time. If that did happen, you should get your dish upgraded. You don't get the new HD channels with the 3LNB dish.

Or....you are confused because the 5 LNB dish has three feedhorns on it.

Do you get, for example the History Channel in HD? 269. Or Food on 231-1? If so, you have the 5 LNB dish.

My bad - I see now that Fuchs does indeed say that he has an hr20. I was focusing on the 3 lnb part of the original message and missed his second message all together.

I was reading this while working - it's awful how work gets in the way of all this other stuff :)

Actualy you are incorrect, if a HR10 was replaced via the protection plan or a dead HR10 with no protection plan, it does not include the upgrade to the 5 LNB dish unless you call in and request the upgrade, the HR20 works fine on the 3 LNB (even has a setting for it in setup), ran like that for about 30 days before I could get a installer scheduled in for the 5 LNB.

BTw they are not fooling around" with the HD packages, they went live on 12/15

Yes, and if you would have read the second paragraph you would have noticed that I mentioned that fact. Seems like I am not the only one who read things a little too quickly:D

Really, I read it but did not come to that conclusion because of your statement of "they are still fooling around with it". Logically if they are still fooling around with it, then it cannot be finalized.
