Browsing Video files on Tivo Destop Plus

I'm sure this has come up before but I searched and couldn't find an answer.

I created shortcuts to my video folders in Tivo Desktop Plus video section. When I go to my PC on the Tivo menu all the videos come up in one list.

Is there a way to get them to be grouped together?

The shortcuts on Tivo Desktop are separate folders by TV show yet on the Tivo they all show up in one huge list.

That is not very convenient for browsing what's on the PC.

agreed. this becomes a major problem very quickly. (i.e. add 20 or so videos and you start to wish you hadn't). bad navigation interface ... makes me unhappy to use it. :(

Unfortunately, as you've discovered, TiVo Desktop doesn't show the folders when browsing your PC from the TiVo.

And, while other TTCB servers will show the folders, they're broken on the Tivo end. Tivo isn't motivated to fix this since they don't use folders themselves.

pyTivo attempts to work around this via its "auto_subshares" option, which creates a separate share (i.e., a top-level entry in the Now Playing list) for each directory. There's also the "subfolders" branch, which I'm not too familiar with; it attempts to make them work by, I think, keeping track of the current state.

It's ridiculous to try to browse all my video files on the Tivo end.

I love my Tivo but there are some serious oversights.

I am looking forward to Digeo's new Moxi DVR due out in 08 sometime. The interface looks great and if it addresses the issues I have with Tivo, I'll switch.
