Is anybody still watching this show? Why is it still on? Does David Kelly just get a free pass until he gets sick of writing his current show?
I had planned on giving up, but with the writer's strike, it was the only thing I had saved to watch over the last couple of weeks.
It's pretty much as good as ever. Shatner has gotten crazier and crazier, but in my mind, that only adds to the fun!
So, if you have a few left on your Tivo, check it out.

I'm watching it and LOVING it. Shatner is hilarious.
One of my favorites still.

Agreed.....so far over the top, it's a guilty pleasure (even if you wholeheartedly disagree with the DEK preaching week in and week out as we do).

When Denny starts shooting people you just KNOW it'll be an entertaining hour.
The shots fired during the meeting with the lawyers was great.

They had several reruns or started late, I can't remember which. That's why it still has more they haven't shown.

I had never watched this show until the past two episodes. I've been seeking out more shows to watch because of the strike.
I think it's great and liked this episode. BTW, isn't it "Denny Crane," not "Danny"?

Yeah. I always misspell it.

I watched the show in HD on my Tivo Series 3 on Wednesday evening. From about 17 minutes in to 26 minutes in, the right half of the picture displayed on the left half of my display and the left half of the picture displayed on the right half of the screen. The show was recorded from the Oakland Comcast feed from ABC affiliate KGO out of San Francisco. Did anyone else see a similar problem?

It was fine here in the midwest. (OTA)

I still watch it and love it- it's one of the high points in my TV viewing week.
I understand why some folks might be over the preaching, but as I usually agree with DEK's point of view it doesn't bother me in the least. I watch it to see Spader deliver the lines, not because I expect courtroom authenticity.
And I love Shatner, Bergen and Larroquette, I love Jerry Espenson, I love Clarence, I love 'em all. Of all the newer castmembers I especially love Katie. Oh, and Lorraine.
Hell, everybody!
And if all those facts about going green are true, then.. WOW.

...and in this case, it was amusing (and refreshing) to see the other lawyer in the initial conference concerning the mortgage foreclosure not only fight back, but outright shut Alan up. Alan was reduced to, in effect, "Well, it doesn't matter if you're right, I'm a good enough lawyer to make your life a pure living hell anyway."
It's pretty unusual for Kelly to let the "other side" have an effective voice.

I thought this week's sermon was uncharacteristically moderate for this show. DEK must like driving his SUV.

My wife and I were saying the exact same thing. How odd it was that he let the other side "win" that little battle like that. Kelly actually toned down his position a little bit this time around. It wasn't quite so obvious what side he was supporting. For that matter this whole episode kind of made us wonder what side he was supporting. Usually it's much easier to see where he's trying to lead you. He seemed to be supporting all sides of every argument in this episode. Still, if it weren't for Boston legal I'd probably never hear most of these juicy if not factually challenged political tidbits. :D

I think the best way to deal with the DEK preaching is to make it a drinking game. Every time you hear DEK preaching coming out of a character's mouth, take a drink.
Also, have a friend waiting on standby so that when you get alcohol poisoining, s/he can call the hospital. :D
I loved the objectophile leaving Jerry for the iPhone. It's the one object I could see an objectiphile objectiphiling.
Agree on the moderation part. DEK almost let the other side have a say in that one. I'm sure he'll get back to his pure unadulterated liberal commie pinko spiel soon enough. :p
I almost expected (when Clarence asked her to dance) the token black girl to say "What the hell, we're out of the revolving door cast soon anyways!" Maybe it's just me. :)

I loved John Larroquette when he had his own sit-com as manager of a bus depot.
Be nice if they'd write some of that irreverent twinkle into his lines on BL

I'm just glad the black girl managed to make it through the entire episode without saying "fatwa". :)
Something about the way she said it was like an ice pick being rammed into my skull.

I'm confused. However, I'm still having fun with it. It's slid a little, but still largely entertaining. The end-of-show balcony scene always makes it worth watching.

I loved the courtroom back and forth regarding "global warming" and the way they passed off the jury's decision with so much nonchalance.

DEK gets a free pass because it still gets about 10 million viewers and those viewers are among the richest audiences on broadcast television. If it's not #1, its in the top 5. The average income for a viewer is something like $75,000. The regional manager of the place I work watches it, if that gives you any indication of the type of viewer.
It's the same thing that kept Ed off the chopping block a while ago.

I had guessed that DEK just writes faster than Stephen King spits out new books, and had written all of the season's episodes already. (I say that as a big SK fan too.)

I think the show is great with some of the best humor on TV. However, I think the best part is the way DEK has created the relationship between Spader and Shattner. Their understanding of each other (even though they rarely agree with each other) and their dialog is enjoyable to watch.

A big +1 on that.

Love the show. It has just enough quirkyness, truth, humor, and compassion to make it a great show. Sometimes it goes over the top but has yet to jump the shark IMO.
