My samsung 160GB drive failed recently, and I got a new one under warranty.

I restored my backup image to the drive, installed the lba48 kernel, installed the turbonet driver, then put everything back into the tivo, plugged it into the phone socket, booted it up and selected guided setup.

It consistently can't make the phone connection. It prepares, housekeeps, says 'connecting' for about 5 minutes then errors with a 'failed - number unobtainable'. At no point does the yellow light come on on the tivo.

I pulled the drive and repeated all of the above steps and it still won't connect.

Any ideas?

thanks,

C

Have you checked the "daily call" option via nic_config_tivo to ensure that it's not trying to use the phone instead of the network or vice versa?

I thought that guided setup always used the phone line, but I did what you suggested and Sucess!!

Thanks Blindlemon.

OK, so that worked - however, It now downloads the data then fails whilst importing - 'cannot load series' and crashes out with a click select to redial...

Try it again - 'cannot load series' is a data error that usually goes away after a couple of retries.

Coincidentally (or not), I got the error "cannot load series" on one of my tivo's yesterday - I can't remember ever seeing it before..
A daily call worked ok this morning though.
