I know this question has been asked before (once by me) but I've never seen a definitive answer.
I'm running 2 HR20s and 1 HR10. We are no longer using the HR10 to record and would like to take it off our account to save a few bucks, but still might want to watch some of the recordings still on it.
If we deactivate it can we still watch the recordings on it without getting constant "searching for signal" or other pop-up messages. Has anyone done this who really knows the answer?

Same answers as before - definitive YES
It will remind you when you go to the show list every time but the shows will all play fine.

Yes, I tried my deactivated HR10 today. It takes a long time for it to finish searching for satellite signal when you first turn it on. You can, however, eventually get to the "to do" list and watch whatever is recorded there.

I'm pretty sure you don't need to wait there but can press the TiVo button on the remote and go directly to the menu and then the Now Playing list.

I just did this yesterday. You DO have to wait a long time for the satellite search to end. I tried hitting Tivo or List and that just stopped the unit. Letting it do its own thing to the end works.

Thanks for the info!! I was sure I was not using the best method for startup, but apparantly I was. If it was left plugged in, starup would be instant as it was with a dish connected.

i dont know if it applies to hr10 but for my t60 i unplugged the sat cable before unsubbing. that prevents any screens on that unit.

Just make sure you set your resolution to 480i first if you are using the composite connections.
