FiOS serial port and Series 1 TiVos...can do?

I tried doing a search, and the board system told me that using the "1" in "Series 1" was a case of using too short a term.

Series 1 and serial ports? Yes or no?

Officially, only DirecTV receivers are supported for the Series 1 serial port, but I understand than Motorola cable box support is there, or can be hacked in.
