My HD Channels have been going off then back on for the last week or so. Now it has been out since 1 pm today it is now 3:06 am in the morning. I do not have the new dish I still have the 3 lb one. They can not install the new one because I have a lot of trees in the way. Are they taking away the HD channels I have been getting with my 3 lb dish. Thanks

have you checked your signals to make sure they are strong? I know they were supposed to take away one of the uhd channels but even if they did, you would get a subscribe message and the signal would be coming through if your dish was aimed correctly. I think 771 is bad signal and 721 is need to subscribe but it's early and i may not be remembering that right.

Yes all 3 have a very strong signal.

Post back with your readings for each transponder on the 110 and 119-deg satellites.

None of the current MPEG2 HD channels have moved to the new Ka-band satellites yet.

74 and 78 are off but they still gave me a no subscribe channel so that would mean you are at least getting the signal

Then only one that bothers me is TP26 on 119. The spot beam TPs on 119 are 23, 25, 29 and 31. So they can be very high (23 in your case) or zero or low. However, TP26 should not be zero. But, looking at http://www.widemovies.com/dtvtransponders.html I don't see any HD channels on TP26.

I found out why I can not get any of the old HD channels. I can not get the new dish because of all the tress I have in my back yard. I was lucky that they could install my 3 LNB dish. As of 12/15 they stopped sending the signal do the old dish. I have a lot of money invested in the four HD receivers I have. I would have to do a lot of trimming to get the new dish to work. Question will the 10-250 work with the new dish? I imagine if it did work I would get everything but HD right?

the old receiver will work with the new dish but if you cant see the new birds, i dont know if they will install it or not. I had issues before where they said no line of sight and wouldnt even do my 3lnb. But this new guy found a place for the 5lnb to work.

Is your line of sight to the sats with the 3LNB dish so tight that you can't get the 99 and 103 birds? They are only 2 degrees on either side of the main sat at 101. BTW, there are still a few HD channels on the MPEG2 sats. My HR10 gets the ones in the 70's.

So are you telling me Jim that if I get a very strong signal with my 3 LNB like I do. They should be able to install the new dish. I have another installer coming on the 28th.
Thanks

I dont know if my experience means anything but i always got in the 101 and 110 and not the 119. the guy said that at the same spot i couldnt get 99 and 103 though. I guess somehow the trees were in the way.

I have the old 3lnb dish with the HR10-250 and get all 70's channels (that I subscribe to). Not sure why you can't get them if you have a strong signal.

That is strange. Direct told me as of the 15th they no longer feed HD channels to the old 3LNB dish.

I can see not getting 119 as it's lower to the horizon (on the east coast).

i agree and got many similar opinions before the install. And the old dish was on a rear porch roof ez as pie to get to (i self installed). but he choose to go to the front of my house and mounted on the bottom of the main roof. There is a tree immediately to the left of the rear porch so maybe he saw potential problems?

at least anyone that comes to my front door will know i'm a proud dtv subscriber :) (and now that the leaves have fallen anyone that comes up the road too)

That is strange. Direct told me as of the 15th they no longer feed HD channels to the old 3LNB dish. They are either misinformed or knowingly lying. They were still broadcasting MPEG2 HD at least until last Monday (the last day I looked.) *2* MPEG2 channels were moved to the "HD Xtra" tier. The "free promo" ended on the 15th. So, that's where UHD and HDNM went -- HDNet wasn't shut off even though it's in the new tier. As long as you have ZERO MPEG4 hardware and were an HD subscriber prior to 12/15/2007, you are grandfathered ("legacy MPEG2 HD customer") -- you will continue to receive the extra 2 channels for free. Of course, you have to call the thieving little b*****ds to get them turned back on. (probablly every three months until the transponder go dark.) Go read this thread (http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?t=370566).

This doesn't sound right. The only channels removed from the system are 74 and 78, and primarily only for folks who have moved to the new HR2x platform. All other legacy MPEG2 channels 70-90 should still be there. Subs who had those 2 removed will get "channel not purchased" dialogs.

The HR10 will work just fine with the new dish, as it sees new as well as the old sats. You will get what you got before, except they may remove 74 and 78, for some strange reason. So you would still get the remaining 70-90, but not the NEW HD.

You know I can never understand why if someone hates a company so much why they still do business with them in a market where there are alternatives. As far as HDNet not being shut off, it may just have something to do with the law suit that was filed concernig by the owners of the station.

I often wonder why someone even asks a question like this that concerning an area that is so subjective. I think it must be your way of defending the company. Encourage the people who speak out about them to leave so everything can stay rosy for you and you won't have to read the complaints about the company.

What is a forum for - exchanging information - in this case about products and services from one company - DirecTV. Oh yeah, the forum name mentions a different company, but since their are no new DTivo products, and since the mods want lots of eyeballs, this is really a sub-forum about DirecTV.

So, what would you have us do - just speak nice about DirecTV - if that's the case, there won't be much to speak about.

What you do is totally up to you. As you said - "What is a forum for - exchanging information - in this case about products and services from one company - DirecTV.", the response was posed as a question, which intself defines it as a request for additional clarifiaction (aka information)

If someone is so dis-enchanted with the service of a company, I am naturally curious as to why they are still doing business with said company. I guess that is not a request for a "exchanging information" in your eyes. So at least you can stop wondering - know you know, at least in this case why the question was asked, simply for additional information
