View Full Version : S-Video/Composite Video Failure for Slingbox

I have a HD DirectTV PVR and I have Slingbox hooked to it. All of the sudden my video stopped working (I can hear the sound through my Slingbox).
I have the Tivo box hooked to the Slingbox via S-video (tried to switch to composite too). When I connected the composite connections to another input on my receiver (to see if the composite video and sound would work), I get the sound for a few seconds, then it quits, but I never get any video.
I can put my DVD player on the Slingbox and it works fine, so I know it's the S-Video output from the TIVO, but can't figure out where to change it.
This thing was working fine until a few weeks ago - not exactly sure when it stopped.
Ideas?

Svideo output is only turned on in 480i resolution.
Same with the composite video (yellow).
Red and white audio are output in all modes.
Format button on front of the TiVo changes between resolutions.

I was going to say that, but the OP didn't say if he has the HR10 or HR20. I believe the HR20 outputs to composite in all resolutions (of course in 480i).

He does refer to it as a TiVo numerous times, thus the HR10-250 assumption.

That solved the problem.
Is there a way to change it from the remote if it get's onto 1080 again? The reason I ask, is if I am remote and can't get to the system, I need to be able to change the resolution remotely using the Slingbox.

But, his first mention is HD DirecTV PVR, thus I assumed HR20. I agree that your assumption is probably better. The resolution got changed.

If you have the resolutions set (can't remember where in the setup you choose them though), you use "up" on the remote to cycle through them ("down" being switch tuners).
(or do I have it backwards?)
Don't know if the Slingbox allows that command though, if you can switch tuners, you should be able to cycle through the resolutions though.

I believe it's up to switch through resolutions because down swaps buffers.
