I'll freely admit it. I'm slammed with both downloading issues and conversion/audio issues with Toast 8.0.3 (yes, I've updated my software).
I've since fallen back to TivoDecode Manager and VisualHub/ffmpegX.
While TivoDecode Manager can work, often (to me) it's a little flakey and unresponsive. But it can work...
Anyway, I was wondering something last night...
I was trying to download some shows and my one Tivo would not show up. At all. OK, I restarted the Tivo. Still wouldn't show up. I restarted it again. NOW it showed up.
Since I didn't (at the time) know what my Tivo's IP address was, I was trying some guesses using a browser to see if I could simply load the web pages saying, "You've connected to your Tivo!" to see which were in use.
Note that this was BEFORE I tried downloading anything.
My Tivo wouldn't show up. On the first restart, it wouldn't show up. On the second restart, it showed up. This got me thinking...
We've all seen updates mess up "normal" things on the Tivo. For example, browsing the "Tivo Suggestions" folder and, after getting some information on a recorded show and returning "out" a level, the list of shows does not return to the place you left (If that makes any sense...)
What I'm now wondering is if part of the download pains, at least when you try to contact the Tivo on the mac, is because there's a glitch in the interal http server in the Tivo.
Or perhaps I'm insane. It could be either.
