I'm going out to pick up an HR20 from Circuit City tonight but the installer won't be around till next week to put in the 5LNB dish. Can I hook up the HR20 to my current 3LNB dish until the swap? Will I recieve the current HD lineup that I've been getting on the HR10-250?

Just select the 3LNB dish during setup. You can change it later.

I'm in the same situation. The CSR told me to leave it in the box. She said that if I installed it, the installer would call it a service call and charge me $70. At least that's what I was told.

I installed the original 2-lnb dish but at my home I let DirecTV install the 3-lnb and 5-lnb dishes (had to fix things after they installed them). With both the 3-lnb and 5-lnb I had new hardware which I installed.

They never said a word about that to me. It's up and running on the 3LNB as we speak.
I miss my Tivo.

I've seen it done, by folks shipped a receiver and blown off by the installer 4 times in a row. At least you still get the old channels that way.
