There surely must be more than just one person on all these forums (here and elsewhere) who have gotten the D/L of the new TiVO software, but I don't see any comments anywhere. Is there no one on these forums who lives in the towns listed? Supposedly, it's been available since Monday...this is Wednesday here in Boston, and...maybe I'm just not looking in the right places, but I would think this would be the thread to post on....yes?

I don't see any others yet, either, but it requires a truck roll that has to be scheduled, so I'm not surprised. I don't think they are responding to random requests for it yet.

There is a pretty decent discussion going on avsforum.

There is a pretty decent discussion going on avsforum.Yes, I've been following the major thread on avsforum, are there any other threads there (I haven't looked around)?

But even in that thread, it's just the one person who actually has it, as far as I could tell. I pity him; all these hordes descending on him alone for more info!

I'd love to have it and deal with the hordes. :)

Yeah I'd love to have it, and I'd feel proud writing up a full review site with loads of screen shots and a lot of technical diagnostic screens, comments, etc...

I'd have it now if they would offer it. Sadly, PA is far from New England.... well not as far as California at least!

Is there a general availability thread I'm missing here? We are thinking of chipping in to buy my in-laws an HDTV for Christmas with other family members, which will make their still chugging along S1 a thing of the past. Would be nice if they could just switch to similar interface on Comcast with the new integrated boxes. They are in Maryland, Montgomery County outside of D.C.

No general availability. Hardly ANY availability. A couple in NH and one in SE MA are the only three that have appeared on forums. The zip-code availability thing on Comcast's site does not list any as available.

"The zip-code availability thing on Comcast's site does not list any as available."

If you go to:

https://comcast.p.delivery.net/m/p/com/tivo/default.asp

as of yesterday evening it accepts plenty of MA and NH zip codes.

For example?? Please name one that works.

I'm in Boston. It still says "Not Available"

So far, the following link is the only documented area of people's zip codes who are or have gotten ComcasTivo installed.

Dave Z. or Megazone (or both)...

you might want to put this on your site. It is quite an impressive blog on the installation experience.

The new Comcast TiVo requires (4) presses of the FF button to skip ahead, the old TiVo required (3). The Comcast TiVo does not seem to have a buffer like the old TiVo had so when you see the show start and hit the Ff button one more time, it doesn't skip back, it just starts playing right where it is. Not cool.

Jump back seems to work when you press FF 3 times and then press PLAY to resume the show.

Just posted a video showing the poor response time of the HD filtering when using the Comcast Guide.

Comcast is aware of the problem and is talking to the hardware manufacturer about a fix.

No TTG , No MRV, No Unbox == Not a Tivo whatever sticker you put on it.

Well, from a practical point of view TiVo has made MRV pretty much unusable on Series 2 boxes since the fall update - so I'm not sure you can include that in a list of "missing" features when you compare the native TiVo to the Comcast TiVo. And from what I've seen Unbox is significantly more limited than OnDemand.

And my TiVo Series 1 never had any of those features, and never will, yet is still proudly and most assuredly a TiVo.

Eh ? Come again ? I use MRV every day ? It is SO nice to be able to watch what I record in the living room in the bedroom, try doing that with Comcast.

In addition I stream my entire 600 dvd collection to the Tivo Via MRV & PyTivo.

MRV is VERY much alive and insanely useful.

As far as Unbox goes .. look again theres tons of unbox content.

I've been using the Comcast TiVo for a couple months and will be keeping it, as our 2nd unit next to our Series3 unit.

I made a couple comments here:
