View Full Version : Slow response time on my HR20?

I realize that slow motion on this thing is a joke (and is one of many reasons I use my HR10-250 whenever possible), but is there supposed to be a delay in response when you want to do a quick replay? I'm not sure what this feature is called, but it's the reverse arrow button that skips back a few seconds when you press it. The annoying thing is when I press it, the picture freezes for a second and then it finally jumps back after a second or so.
With the 10-250 and all my SD Directivos it is instantaneous. Is this normal? I am so going to miss it when the mpeg2 signals are removed. :(

That is the way replay works on the HR20. It is somewhat annoying coming from the TiVo method, but I'm getting used to it. Also, the lack of a true slow motion is rediculous. I don't even remember how to activate it.

The main reason I have DirecTV is the NFL SundayTicket. I try to watch 4 games at a time on my 2 HR10-250's (3 is easy, 4 at times is a little tough). I tune in 4 different games, pause them all, go to one, watch a few series then pause that one and go to the next. I use the 30 sec skip to skip commercials and huddles, but the replay button is essential if a team is in no-huddle, because in less than 1 second I can go from 1 play to the next and back up a few seconds if needed.
From my standpoint, there are several things that are going to take away from my viewing experience when I have to switch to the HR20 next season.
1. DLB's -- I don't want to have to record each of these 4 games as I often will take one game out of the rotation and replace it with another one if the one I am watching turns into a blowout and there is another more interesting one going on that I am not watching.
2. 30 sec skip...I hear that it is improving on the HR20, so that's good.
3. When I press the replay button I want an immediate replay.
4. Slow-motion. I don't want to always wait for the network to show me a slow-motion play.
Hopefully they will make some progress on these items by next September.

Yep, that delay makes you think something is wrong. Instead of trusting that it went back 6 seconds, I am always wondering if it really worked.
I rarely use slow motion on the HR20 ( as I rarely use the HR20), but when I do, I pause the picture and then tap the forward or reverse button. It moves way to slow and if you hold the button it jumps somewhere but it is slow motion....
Murray, I do the same with my HR10, only 2 games though. Sometimes I add a 3rd with my HR20 which works fine. Watching 2 games on the HR20 even with the work around is not something I want to do.

actually there is a problem with some of the hr20s when you FF there is a delay and it's software related. DBS has more about it and if its 100 or 700 series. I dont know if it affects replay to or not but i know when i go to do some stuff there is a delay and it bites.
