Programming the "TV Input" help on HD-DVR.

I recently got the DTV HD-DVR the HR-250 I think was the exact model I think. Anyway, DTV did the install. I really only have a DVD connected that is at issue. On my old DTV remote I could click "input" and change to where my DVD would show.

Now when I hit input nothing happens. On my SONY HD t.v. I have like the option for 7 sources. Presently, I have to have the t.v. remote, go to menu, click on the selected source for the DVD, and then watch my movie.

Is there not a way to simply use the input button on my DTV remote that would automatically switch me to the DVD source mode like on my old peanut?

Did you go into the remote menu & program it to control the Sony TV? If you do this it should cycle through various inputs on your TV when you hit the 'input' button. As an added bonus, it will also turn the TV and DVR on off at the same time with the push of one button.

The tech did the remote for me and it does turn the tv/DVR off and on, volume, etc. just nothing on the "input" part.

Follow the instructions under settings, remote, TV, Sony, and try a different code.
