HR10-250 Stuck on 480p

I have a brand new never used HR10-250 unit stuck on 480p format.

It starts with welcome... and almost there on 480i (the standard setting) but once it starts to go to the actual directv screen it blips over to 480p and wont budge at all.

I can see the 480p display on a monitor i hooked it up to and the unit itself tests fine but.

what is making it automaticaly move to 480p and stick there?

any ideas on how to fix this?

What output are you using? Can you try another HD output?

it wont budge off that output setting of 480p. i can see the picture but the format wont change.

also, it does the same thing if i take the HDMI card out of the unit and leave it out so it cant be the hdmi card.

it just jumps to 480p right after the just a few more seconds screen finishes its thing and wont budge.

hardware or software? what the heck is this all about?

i forget, is there maybe a way to uncheck the 480p thru setup so it goes to something else?

i dont see one.

also, i notice that info screen telling me that -

"HDMI Status: HDCP Not Enabled"

that is different then my other HR10-250 units that say -

"HDMI Status: HDCP Not Connected"

does this give anyone a clue as to what the problem is?

The settings are coded to other resolutions besides 480p? I just helped a buddy with this issue today. IIRC it's in the Messages & Settings area. Either video or display options, I think.

i just want to clarify the format settings. on the Tivo it looks like this and goes in this order:

FORAMT: 480i 480p 720p 1080i

mine is stuck on 480p no matter what. even when i go to do a clear and delete it stays on and keeps on 480p during and after the process.

Now check the Output Format menus.
