Swapping zippered drives between 2 S2 boxes

Hey guys,

I have one S2 dTiVo (200gb) that is developing some hardware issues, I think. What problems will I experience if I swap zippered hard drives between it and another S2 dTiVo (40gb), both of which are RID-type S2 dTiVo boxes? Just trying to anticipate in order to avoid discord in the family unit.

You have 2 options to get the drive working in the new box. There is a key in MFS that ties the drive to the original box, so you'll need to nuke that key. You can do this with the 51killer.tcl script, or by doing a Clear and Delete Everything. Obviously, a C&DE will wipe your recordings. If you're running with encryption disabled, then you can use 51killer.tcl without losing anything. If your recordings are encrypted, running 51killer.tcl will render them useless, since they would need the key to be played.
