I've been looking at hr10-250's on Ebay and when I ask the seller(s) what the manufcture date is they respond that there's none on the unit labels. Is this in fact true? If it isn't on a label will the RID # indicate if it's a newer unit ? (ie higher the #, newer the unit). If not that, then what about the serial #?
Obviously I'm trying to avoid early production units w/HDMI problems.

Some have date stickers, some don't. I don't know of any way to map this from the RID or serial number.

I believe only the very original HR10's had manufacture dates on them. None of mine do and they are all 1-2 years old. Not sure when the "good" HDMI ports started showing up. OK, thanks for the reponses guys. I guess it's just a roll of the dice then. But I guess, at the current going prices, not a major risk.

Those without dates all have the newer HDMI card. One of my two HR10-250s has a date of September 2004. The HDMI port has always worked and is still being used. I think they stopped putting dates on the units in January 2005 and some of the new cards first appeared in units that had a date stamp of December 2004.

I have been following this forum since Sept 2004. I purchased my first HR10-250 a few months before they discovered a problem with the HDMI card and wished I had waited. As it turned out, my early HDMI card has not had any problems, but since the problem was reported as a loose socket, I have always been very careful plugging in the HDMI cable and always made sure there was no pressure applied to the connector by the cable.
