If my son (lives in the same house) orders pay-per view on his 8300hd dvr, will I also receive the program on my Tivo 3?

No.It depends. Some people can, if their particular franchise offers whole house options for PPV, and allows ordering by web or phone. There have been reports here of those who can.

What's an 8300 dvr?

I thought you couldn't get PPV on ANY series 3 b/c it doesn't work with cablecard.

PPV works just fine on any CableCard TiVo. However, it depends on if your cable company allows ordering over the phone. Most cable companies allow this.

Most cable companies allow this.I think it depends on whether the cable company is using the SDV mechanism for its PPV. If the PPV is on fixed channels, then you should be able to call in, and the network will authorize your cable cards for that (fixed) channel for the duration of the program. For example, in my area, there is something like channels 801-805 for PPV. On the other hand, if your PPV is on SDV, your TiVO has no way of knowing how to find the program and you won't be able to get PPV.

PPV has nothing to do with SDV. Like the other poster said if it's called in it should be avalable to cablecard users, but EOT and ordering through the remote will not work.
