So far it seems like $599 before rebate from Costco, Amazon or TivoCommunity Store. Shipping is free from the last two. Costco carries with it their return policy.
Anyone have any better deals?
Any Coupon codes for any of the above?
TIA,
Terry

$554 (after $35 cash back).
ships from abe's of maine
(not sure how their cash back works but it is $589 minus $35, so starting price is about $10 less, anyways).

$599 - 10% AAA + tax @ CC B&M if you can still find them. I picked up the last one around my area last Saturday.
In CA, it came out to be $580 OTD ($380 after $200 MIR, but +$399 lifetime).

Calling Tivo direct, they are $599 total cost ($799) then a $200 rebate.
Weaknees.com had the $599 before rebate offer.

I was about to (finally) order my S3 today. Then I noticed the "fine print". The order would be fullfilled by 6th Ave Electronics. I don't want to deal with 6th Ave if there's a problem, I want to deal with Amazon. Have other people's orders come from Amazon or 6th Ave?

You can still order it from Amazon for the same price but it says it will not ship for 4-5 weeks if you go that route. You can always choose who to order from by clicking the more buying choices.

Watch Amazon closely. A lot of their prices have fluctuated widely. When I bought my S3 less than two months ago, it was $549. I keep one in my cart, as they have a 30-day price protection plan. I've watched it go as high as $638, and then down to $599. Hasn't hit the $549 level, though. If you buy from them, check at least once a day, and send them an e-mail when it's lower than you paid.

I purchased two S3 through Costco December of last year. 11 months later, one unit died with the 9.1 update (I swear it was 9.1). After talking with Tivo support, they wanted to send me a refurbished replacement for $50 bucks + shipping.
I instead returned the unit to costco, got a full refund and simply purchased a new one to replace it. Everything is good now. The 90 day return policy on electronics at Costco does not apply to TIVO units. According to the manager I dealt with at my local costco, it applies to computers, TV's, cameras, and satellite/cable equipment, such as Direct TV, but not DVR units like the TIVO.

I had no idea that if you put something in your cart in Amazon that there was a 30-day price protection....
Thanks for that info!
I keep a lot of stuff in my cart, but it's really more for far-fetched dreams...:D, so, whenever I return to Amazon, they're constantly telling me that this has changed its price, that has changed its price, and so on....
Fry's $799 minus $200 off - so $599 then the $200 rebate. Total $399.

I'd seen it for $529 (well I still see it at $519, but with $40 shipping!) pre-rebate from Erwin's but didn't grab it while the linked page was still correct. Then a week or so ago, the linked page showed $579 (though Froogl, er, Google products still showed $529, I guess cache needed to catch up) and now both pages show the $579 (pre-rebate) price.

Hey all,
I've been in the market for a TiVo S3 and have been looking around for good deals... thought I'd share that TiVo has a special deal going on for their S3. I found this deal by Googling "refurbished tivo" and it came back with sponsored listing for their S3 that goes straight to a special page on TiVo.com... a factory-renewed unit for $449.99. Is that a good deal?? I think that sounds like a pretty good deal... it states that the regular warranty is effective and they also have their 30 day money back guarantee. This might be the time for me to upgrade to an S3. Even though it's refurbished, it's coming straight from them so I won't worry about it. :)

Unless they are also offering the $200 rebate on the refurbished units, then its about $50 more than the common price for brand new.

Closing out my own post (yeah, sad to reply to myself, but . . .) I checked the next day at Amazon, and it was In Stock and shipping from Amazon LLC. So I jumped on it. You really gotta keep your eyes open on this stuff. The price was the same $599 before rebate, but that seems like what I can find, and I was anxious to finally make the plunge. Then today, I checked to see if the price went down, just in case. Nope, it went _up_ $50 bucks. That makes me happy is jumped on it, but this real-time pricing is exhausting.

I followed Amazon and ended up Paying $539.99 for my S3, with free shipping and no state sales tax. When my $200 rebates comes in then I will have only paid $339.99 for the S3. I paid that much for our old Series 2 80 hour around 4 years ago.
My S3 has been great and much better than our old Series 2.

I found that even though they are currently out of stock (many online retailers are including Amazon), OneCall had them yesterday for $579 plus $12 for 3 day shipping, but if you use the Holiday07 coupon, it reduces the total $25. Net cost is $567, about the cheapest I found. 12 months same as cash-cant' beat it!

How long does the $200 rebate last and is it true that its instant if you buy from Tivo, otherwise you have to mail in and wait? If I don't another S3 for a few months, is it safe to saying that prices are going nowhere but down? Thanks.

It isn't that odd. The S3 doesn't sell well because of its price. That is why TiVo came out with the TiVo HD. I wouldn't be surprised if TiVo stopped selling the S3 at some point and just focussed on the TiVo HD.

Is one call an authorized retailer? I am still waiting on my rebate for the one I bought my sister (I think they lost my mail-in section, and I proactively resubmitted it to the resubmissions department). I am not buying another box to lose $200. It's worth it at around $370 +$400 for lifetime. Not so much at $600.

Yes, OneCall is authorized. I doubt you will lose any money with Tivo. They are pretty good about rebates from my expereience.

I don't know about buying directly from Tivo, but to pay $599 with no rebate vs. $399 after rebate everywhere else wouldn't be smart. I can't believe that Best Buy still has these at $799 even though Circuit City has had them at $599 for quite a while.
Its always a certainty that these tech product prices will go down with time. The rebate is good thru mid January if I recall. This is only the second time Tivo has done this rebate (last time I think was Fathers day?) so it is not every day that they offer this rebate.

I had BB price match CC no problem and will be shortly submitting my rebate forms for both S3's. Good price and instant gratification.

Sounds good! My local BB still has a few S3's. What were you able to use for the CC pricing? I can't find them on the website and my local CC is out, so I don't have anything to bring to BB for price matching...

Weaknees.com has been having the $599 with a $200 rebate to equal a final price of $399. The fine print to know is that one must have the Tivo service activated for 30 days and then running an additional 30 days before you can even apply for the refund.
Still.....Tivo Series 3 for $399.

The $200 S3 rebate says purchase eligible TiVo Series 3 HD DVR between 9/16/07 and 1/26/08, activate TiVo service by 2/26/08, service must be active for at least 30 days to qualify for rebate, rebate must be postmarked by 3/26/08. So it sounds like if you can get an invoice before 1/26 you're OK...
