Hi, I recently bought and hooked up my HD Tivo w/ upgraded HD from weaknees. The first day I had it hooked up to the coax from Comcast directly from the wall. I have my tv hooked up through an HDMI cable.

In the first day, I experienced the black background when I was trying to transfer videos from my older Series 2. Then, sometimes the screen would look like it had snow on it and I would have to unplug and plug back in. I forced a connection a few times and it downloaded software updates so that now I'm on ver 9.2a.

Ok, since then, I've changed a few things. Instead of plugging the coax into the Tivo directly from the wall, now I have it going into an APC surge protector first. It has been a few days and it has not had that weird black background problem again (at least so far...). I've heard other people talking about pixelization issues with FIOS TV, so maybe some these errors are happening because of the Tivo being sensitive to strong signals on the coax.

On another note, I notice that when I navigate through HD video I hear some scratchy noise before the video plays. If I fast forward and I hit play, there is a static-sounding, scratchy-sounding noise that gets played through the tv in that moment before the video starts.

The responsiveness of the HD Tivo seems to be a lot more sluggish than my Series 2. I felt like my clicks on the remote were nicely in synch with my Series 2. For some reason, there feels like there is a lag when I use the HD Tivo. Like, when I fast foward, if I click 3 times at my usual rate, it only goes to the 2nd fast forward speed. It feels like it is hard of hearing or something.
