I'm having some channels going missing. Tech came out today and said they've begun deploying digital simulcast. Last week my Comedy Central went out (along with a few other channels) The tech said it could be on the head end (it wasn't the line) and he'd pass it up. If it's a mapping issue, everyone in this market should be getting it. Anyone using Brighthouse in Bham? And if so, Comedy Central working?

I have Charter in Birmingham, and I can say that charter has begun deleting certain channels to make room for more digital and more HD Stuff. Generally, if you do a rescan on your Series3 you'll be able to pick up those channels through the QAM tuner in the S3, but you'll lose the ability to record them through wishlist etc.
The reason is that for each analog deleted, they gain the ability to add 8 digital channels.
For many of us, the reason this whole QAM mapping is becomming such a major issue, is because its not just the locals anymore, many of us are having certain channels deleted from the analog part and then being available only through QAM or renting a box from the cable company.

I know that they are not actually deleting any analog (it still tunes fine on my old tv and series 2) but the simulcast channels are all off. I'm making a tiny bit of headway (finally got a direct line for someone , a possible technical diagnosis by another user, and have finally located someone in my neighborhood with the exact same issue).

Status update: Fixed for now. Finally got a direct line with a rep and she 'balanced' the cards (I have no idea what that means and her explanation wasn't the clearest) and I'm all good. At least I have a fix when/if it happens again.

It is interesting to note that this board is read by some of the cable companies. Although my problem is resolved, I received the following PM yesterday:
Good afternoon. My name is removed and I am a manager at Bright House in Birmingham. Your post was brought to my attention and I would like to see if I can assist you in any way. You may contact me by phone at removed between 8 and 5 Monday through Friday. If I am unable to answer your questions, I will make sure you get to someone who can.
Thank you for allowing me to help you.
Regards
removed
I did speak with the manager, and he apologized several times and got some info from me to try to improve training and support. I was rather impressed and now have a direct line to a manager :) If anyone in Birmingham is having issues, PM me and I'll be happy to pass his contact info along...

If anyone is, can you tune 663 (TBSHD) or 665 (HistoryHD)? They aren't showing up on my channel map I believe (I get 'channel not found') and BHN support has told me that
a). They had to add them to my account and they'd show up soon (and didn't)
b). It might be a channel map issue
c). There is no problem because everyone would be having this problem, it needs a truckroll
So right now I'm going with b), but given how Brighthouse (in other markets) has been selectively not giving new channels to cablecards users, I'm wondering if it is incompetence, or biased programming decisions.

actually I think so far it is incompetence. could be sdv, but this is a smaller market. I have a manger's number and will find out soon enough, but wanted to see if anyone in the market wanted to chime in.
