Do I Have To Use The Tivo External Hard Drive? Or Can I Use My Own External Sata Drive?

From the eSATA FAQ (http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?t=370784):

With the TivoHD, you cannot add other drives using the the new External Storage menu (screenshot).The Western Digital My DVR Expander is the only eSATA drive that will work "out of the box" with the TiVoHD. Other "Non Verified" drives can only be added to the TiVoHD with the "hack" discussed in Part III, #10 of this FAQ.

You can use a non-verified drive, but it involves opening up your THD and using WinMFS to marry the two drives (see the FAQ).
