Hi All,

Recently, one of my two beloved HD TiVo's started getting the dreaded over-temperature shutdown messages. Finally, it stuck completely in that mode, and after a little net research, I purchased a replacement power supply from Weaknees. Installed in minutes, and viola! my Tivo was alive once again.

However, after being off for over a month, it failed to acquire any guide data. I forced a couple phone connections, but this didn't change anything. Video playback, live or recorded, had pauses every 5 to 10 seconds. Pulling up the To Do list took minutes and only showed "no upcoming episode" messages.

So, I selected "Clear program information & To Do List" in the Restart or Reset System menu. Following this, it rebooted, and then stuck on a DirecTV logod screen with the message "Clearing program information & To Do List... This may take up on an hour."

After 24 hours, I pulled the AC plug and re-inserted - normal boot followed by the same screen. At this point, I am unable to get the unit into any other mode - it hangs on this screen at every power on, and will evidently do so forever (48+ hours, anyway).

Has anyone seen this before, and if so, is there a recovery? I really don't have time to pull the HD and re-image it (and don't have ready access to an image.) Is there a way to force a factory reset without having it boot all the way to the UI?

Any help greatly appreciated!

John

If you have replaced the hard drive with a larger one, then the clean process could take 12 hours or more.....my hr10 seems to be sensitive to the quality of the satellite connections, it hangs during prolonged disconnects from weather - so check your signals also.

I had the contant pauses during playback with contant reboots. Sometimes 5 a day. A few here said it was the hard drive. This is a stock HR10-250.

I did a "Clear & Delete". Some here reported that theirs took up to 48-72 hrs to complete. Mine only took 6 hrs. The drawback here is everything is deleted, set ups, Season Passes, etc.

** There is a pretty clear warning to not unplug or reboot otherwise you will damage the image and render the unit unusable **

If Clear Program & To Do gives the same warning as Clear & Delete, that could be your problem.
