Set up my moms series 2DT at my place...

is it possible to setup the series 2DT TiVo i got my mom for christmas at my place so when i give it to her all she'll have to do (after i set it up for her, of course) is sit down and watch? i've got the same model, but mine is connected through my broadband connection, she'll be using her phoneline...is this possible? she lives like, 30-45 minutes away, we share the same area code (but it's long distance to call her from here)...any help/ideas will be hugely appreciated...

Sure, you can set it up at your place. Just tell it you're at her place and it won't know.

If you're going to hook it up to her cable box, you won't be able to full complete setup because you won't be able to test out the serial connection or IR settings.

You'll also need to decide whether to set it up with broadband and change it back to phone later, or set it up via phone (which will take longer) at your place.

So it may require *some* setup more once you get to her place, but you can do much of it at home.

thank you for the quick reply...she doesn't have a cable box, just the cable wire coming out of the wall...one more thing, just exactly what did you mean by, "just tell it you're at her place and it won't know"?

I mean when you set it up it'll ask for your zip code and cable company. Just give it the information for her house/tv provider.

Or, if you know what some of her favorite shows are, you could set it up with your zip code & cable line-up, then record some of "her shows".

Then right before christmas, repeat guided setup and change it to her zip code & cable line-up. That way after you set it up at her house, she'll have something to watch on it.
