So, I have been using a wireless adapter on my TIVO Series 2 (older single tuner Tivo with a Linksys wireless G USB) and have been getting content pretty quickly for the last year.
I just recently started using TivoToGo and it is VERY slow. It is transferring at 3Mbps and no more. I then tried to use a belkin USB adapter that will also only transfer at 3Mbps. To eliminate any networking problems, I out the 2 computers on a 10-100 HUB so that they would have the best connection possible, and still 3Mbps. This makes transferring an hour long show at best quality a 2 hour process. (2.6 Gig each).
I called TIVO Support, and after getting to someone that actually know something about the tivo (after 30 min of trying to explain to the support tech what a HUB was, he said that 3Mbps is a limit of All tivos for TivoToGo transfers. and that there was no way to fix it.
Is this true? can no one get a faster connection out of an Older Series 2 OR a newer Series 3 or HD???
If it was a symptom of my older model, I would consider getting a new one... but not if it won't work........
Thanks!

Different TiVos can transfer at different speeds. None are fast by PC standards, but no TiVo has a $200 heatsink mounted processor in it either. The Series 3 is the fastest, the Series 2 single tuner units with built in DVD burners are the slowest. There are many benchmark threads here where speeds are compared in exquisite detail, you can look at those to see where yours fits in. Since you didn't say which one you have, I can't guess where it fits in.
Upgrading to a High Definition TiVo model will speed your transfers by a significant amount, reports of up to a factor of five have been posted when compared with the slowest models.

I have an Older Series 2 with a single tuner. I will look for the speed tests... thanks!

I had a DLink B-wireless adapter attached to my S2ST (Humax standalone) TiVo and transfers to the PC or a S2DT were very slow (as in 10 hours to transfer a one hour program). I switched to a TiVo-Brand wireless adapter and the difference was stunning. I now have faster-than-realtime transfers to either device (it may help that the S2DT is connected to the router via an ethernet cable). I recommend you give that a try.

Not sure what may have changed, but the only G adapter that is compatible with TiVo is TiVo's own. You said you were using a Linksys G, which sounds to me like it was something that was never supposed to work in the first place. I'm not sure what Belkin you may be using, but if its G, its not officially compatible with TiVo either.

The 240s are among the faster of the older single Tuner TiVos.
There are some tricks available to speed it up. They don't make a huge difference, but can shave some time off a transfer. One is to play back a pre-recorded show on it and then hit pause. Turn of TV if it could be damages by the static image. Another is to tune a non-existent signal source. That provides a better speedup, but it goes away when the TiVo tunes to a real channel to begin recording something. You can also do both, tune a non-existent input and then pause a recording.

My S2 ST does about 3Mbps with the Tivo wireless adapter. My S2 DT does about 10 Mbps wired. It's considerably faster. A 1 Gig file transfers in about 13 minutes.

My TiVoHD is connected via ethernet to a four-ethernet-port wireless bridge. I have my laptop temporarily connected to another ethernet port on the same bridge, to do a TiVoToGo transfer. Because the connection between the TiVo and the laptop is completely wired, I expected very fast transfers. I'm not getting them. I'm averaging about 6-7 Mbps. Shouldn't it be much faster?

From the FAQ in the S3/HD forum at http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?t=371710
The TiVoHD can transfer recordings about 60% as fast as the Series3. TiVoToGo throughput with TivoHD is up to 10Mbps when both tuners are set to channels you don't receive, 8.0-8.5Mbps when watching or recording SD channels, and 6.0-7.0Mbps when watching or recording HD channels.

I was surprised with the TivoHDs transfer speed increase!
S2 540: ~40 - 50 min., 1 hr show , med. quality.
TivoHD: ~20 - 30 min., 1 hr show , med. quality.
