Setting up a DRT400 and D11 combo without a phone line? Help needed ASAP

I recently upgraded to a DRT400 Series 2 Tivo box because I wanted to be to use my Broadband connection instead of my phone line. Well once I recieved my Tivo box and I tried to set it up, it says it needs to make an initial call and then I can use the broadband connection. Only problem is, my phone line is already cancelled.

I have been looking around and learning about different tricks to get it too work without a phone line but I had a few questions. If I plug it in via a USB to Ethernet adapter and then plug it into my router and use the ",#401" dialing prefix, do I need to have vonage or something of the sort? I don't have Vonage but I do have Skype and would that work?

Also please I am real newbie to Tivo modding so please tell me any useful things that might help me get through this.

You can use the ,#401 trick with and older supported ethernet adapter, connected to ethernet. If it has been recently used, it should have a recent software version which should have newer drivers for later adapters, and direct network setup support.
