I've been getting poor video on the local LA channels.
The PBS affiliates (24,28,50,58) are worse than others.
In August, DTV explained that the problem was a
transponder which sends the signal up to the satellite.
In October, DTV told me that they would have the
problem fixed in 2 weeks. It's been a couple months
and it's not any better.
LA viewers, are you having the same experience?

No problem here with standard definition using a Philips DSR-704.

I have no problem with either my SAT T60 or R10 standard definition receivers. I have not recorded anything on PBS since "the war" which was fine.

Yes it is bad (especially channel 58 which is snowy). Sometimes 50 and 28 are okay, but other times they are bad. I only have a 32" SD tv and the faces sometimes look like a paint by the numbers pictures!

Yeah, I can't remember when ch 58 has looked good. Its always snowy. Makes you wonder just exactly how DTV acquires the signal from ch 58. Via an antenna?
Also, sometimes the colors are overly-saturated on ch4. Sometimes it makes everyone look sunburnt on "The Office" and "30 Rock."

Its is funny but last night all the channels I mentioned above seemed alot better. There was no snow on channel 58.

I get better reception from my OTA antenna
than DTV. Especially for those PBS stations.

Wow - amazing to see 58 so clear! I admit I don't watch it all the time, but it is handy for catching repeats of PBS stuff, like an episode of "American Experience" they aired yesterday documenting the Jonestown massacre.
Unfortunately I didn't watch it, assuming the channel would be all snowy. :(
But sure am glad its fixed for future repeats. :)
