Switching DirecTV Boxes

I have a general question regarding the DirecTV TiVo boxes.

My Dad currently has DirecTV, without a DVR.

My sister switched from DirecTV (TiVo) to Dish Network.

Is it possible to use her DirecTV TiVo boxes on my Dad's system? I know he'd probably have to pay for the TiVo service.

Yes it's possible to use her DirecTV DVR on your Dad's system.

He will have to call DirecTV and have them activated the unit, and hr might have to buy a new card ($20.00) for the unit.
