Hi, guys:
Okay, this is really odd. I have an HDVR2 that until today was sitting at 6.2. It had developed an odd problem, which was that it would hang when retrieving messages. Now, it's not connected to a phone line, because it's very inconvenient. I would usually clear out the nag messages about once a month, and everything was fine.
Then, about 8 months ago, the poor little guy would hang when I would try to go to messages and read/clear them out. So I quit reading messages.
Well, as you can imagine, messages kept building up. So today, I decided to mess with it.
Tested it again... yup. hang. Tried a 58 at boot (fix file system). No evidence that it did anything. Tried again... still busted. Did NOT want to do a Clear and Delete!
Forced a call. Now it's at 6.3E. Still.... busted.
Reboot. Now, all the messages are gone, and no more hang. Huh!
Can someone please explain (old Duran Duran lyrics!) the reason for this strange behavior? I'm terribly curious.
