I think the right person went home. Jennie came on strong too late. Her dance to "Mustang Sally" was quite awesome, but she needed to "come out of her shell" weeks ago.

It's WAY too obvious that the judges and probly the producers want a woman to win. Mel and Maks did an OBVIOUS lift (not that it was a big lift, but her dragging foot clearly came off the floor) and it wasn't even mentioned.

Sabrina and Mark were incredible.... granted, they did a lot of lifts since she's out and that was just an 'exhibition dance', but she is one incredible dancer. She kept up with Mark step for step, move for move, and he was kickin ass. Now I'm wondering if she 'took a fall' or was asked to take one rather than go through an 'I've had prior dance experience' brouhaha.

Next week's final should be interesting. I know what to expect from Helio and Mel, but Marie's freestyle could be anything. The dancing should be spectacular, but it really won't mean much. As broken-record Martin always says, this is just a popularity contest, and more of one as the end nears. The judges' scores will be within a few points of each other (or dead even as with Emmitt/Mario) and the audience votes will determine it. Blah.

I hope Mel wins... I think she is the best dancer there. I'd be ok with Helio winning since he is a non-"stage performer" and does really well with the dancing. I just don't see Marie keeping up.

I liked Jennie a lot, but she was definitely the right person to go. I'm glad that she at least got to see a perfect 30 before she left.

Given the three finalists, I think Mel is the best of the bunch, but I'd really like to see Helio win. I'm also glad that Marie made it through to the final. She's a lot of fun to watch. She always looks like she's having a blast. Honestly, I'd be happy if any of them won. I was just commenting when we were watching this... it's the first time in a long that that there wasn't some dud who was making it too far when they should have been voted off. I think that each week the right person went home, with the obvious exception of Sabrina.

Frankly?
The Osmond fan base scares the crap outa me.

IMO Marie should have gone and Jennie stayed as she has come much, much farther and is much more of a proper dancer. Then Jennie could be the first eliminee on 'finally' night to preserve the boy/girl final two w/Helio runner up, and Mel win. That way we could have seen what Derek would have choreographed for Freestyle which I was really looking forward to.

Helio had a lot of momentum early on, but of late Julianne is dancing around him and he just grins. I like him and I like his personality but I don't see the week to week improvement coming from him- he's just too inconsistent. When he is good he is fabulous, then all of the sudden he hits a klunker dance and goes down in flames.

IMO Mel and Maks have done the most as far as progressing to the point of dancing together as a team and not simply doing tricks on the floor as Sabrina and Mark did in the exhibition dance. I found them (Sabrina/Mark) to be much too frantic and over the top- their "dance" was more like a series of tricks and lifts without any of the nuance that makes a dance interesting. It was like they were racing to see how many tricks they could fit into two minutes.
That said I would like to see Mark back next year with a less steamrollerish partner. And I really hope Derek is back, too, as I found his choreography very exciting.

But I am afraid Marie is going to walk away with it simply by virtue of the Osmond fan base. My Mother is voting for her- this is someone who does not watch TV ever and likes her simply because she remembers little Jimmy Osmond at age two on the Andy Williams show (or whatever).
The Osmond fan base is cross generational and plentiful. Plus Donny is over on Entertainment Tonight (and everywhere else!) pimping her every 15 seconds. Not fair.

Go Mel and Maks!!
I was so impressed with their Viennese Waltz- it was so smooth and flowing and beautiful. It reminded me of one of those camera shots in movies where the camera dolly goes round and round a couple who are themselves on a pedestal revolving in the opposite direction.
Smooth.... like butta. Fairy tale smooth.
They should win.

Marie has been at the bottom the last three weeks (judges scores) and you think Jennie was the right person to go????! Give your head a shake. I think Marie is great, used to watch Donnie and Marie all the time when I was younger, but she clearly should have been sent packing even before Jane. She bought herself sympathy votes when she fainted (if she hadn't I think she would have gone home that week).

Sabrina's dance was awkward to watch, almost unpleasant. I didn't like the choreography or the way she danced it. Although I will agree that she got sent packing too soon, I have been saying from day one that she should not win this (and it's not because I think she's a pro).

But that's just mostly my opinion.

My post was my opinion as well. My head is just fine, thank you.

When the Osmonds went on Oprah recently to celebrate their 50th anniversary it was Oprah's highest rated show ever. That ought to tell you something.

The only way that Marie won't win is if the judges give her true scores of 5s, 6s or 7s. Len had a lot of nerve complaining that he wanted the best dancers in the finale and not wanting to send either Jenny or Heilo home. Len do you think that maybe if you hadn't given Marie a 10 she would have went home. Duh!

And my final comment is, wait for it, I TOLD YOU SO! Marie wins by a landslide with popularity votes.

I was a big Donny and Marie fan when I was a teenager. Went to one of their concerts too. But even I can see that her talent as a dancer is zero.

I didn't see this, but my mom said that Marie and Bruno and Heilo were on Larry King. She didn't hear the particular phone call but it must have went something like this - Marie is not a good enough dancer to win - and Bruno's response was that there was nothing he could do about it, if the American people wanted her to win. Well it would make it a little easier for me to take, if the judges gave her realistic scores of 5, 6 or 7 that matched her ability. They know what she can do. Stop acting like idiots. To give her tens means that they are placing her in the category of Drew and Mario and Apollo. She doesn't belong with them.

Mel is a stage performer, Marie is a stage performer and Helio is a race car driver. I thought this show was suppose to be people with out any dance background and to see who improves and does the best.

Stage performer does not equal having a dance background.

On a side note, Its amazing when you look at the various forums how visceral people are. The ABC forum seems to be populated by a bunch of children in the way they talk and insult. Thank you TCF moderators.

This like the other voting shows are all about ratings and if they alter the voting scheme they disenfranchise/alienate the very thing they want.

After season 1 with Kelly I have learned to just enjoy the show each week and leave it at that.

Amen.

I watch to see the performances, and to see what choreography the dancers will come up with. I watch to see fun stuff like Mark's parents coming in to coach. I watch so I can diss the icky music choices and yell "what were the costumers thinking!" And to hear the notes the judges give the dancers.

I watch for the Len-and-Bruno show. ;)

The voting is just an annoying blotch on the universe that I have to put up with -- otherwise the show wouldn't exist.

I hate bringing in DialIdol, but according to that site, last week it wasn't even close between Helio and the rest. She's got the fan base to keep her in over Jane, Cameron and Jennie, but not enough to put her over the top two.

Unless, of course, the other two split votes.

My suggestions for the show:

1. Do not eliminate anyone the first two weeks. Eliminate two after the third week. It's almost embarrassing to keep showing someone in the opening credits that was only there for one week.

2. Weigh the judges' votes 2/3 of the total. I don't mine if it's a little bit of a popularity contest, but I want truly the best in the finals.

3. Why are there three couples in the "final"? That makes no sense whatsoever.

Maybe the judges should have both artistic and technical scores.

Has anyone else received multiple busy signals when trying to vote for their fav dancer?
