I am new to this Tivo thing and would appreciate any help

I recently moved and cannot put up a satellite and have been suffering with Comcast in Boston. I came from Dish network and miss having a rock solid and fast DVR.

I am considering a Tivo and want to know the best price of a Series 3 and what to do as a new subsriber?

I see Comcast supports a multistream Cable Card but cannot find out if that means Video on Demand or not?

If not what do I do to get it?

No VOD with the tivo S3 or tivo HD. If you need VOD, you'll need to have a digital cable box in addition to a Tivo.
Currently the HD is the only Tivo that supports M cards, but the S3 is supposedly going to get the capability in a future software update.

You can do a search on froogle.com for the S3 using it's model number TCD648250B or the Tivo HD using it's model number TCD652160

If you're patient, Comcast is in the process of rolling out their DVR with the TiVo interface embedded. The Boston area is among the first to see the new box.

You'll get HD TiVo and VOD in the same box, without a hardware expense.
