Well... that's an interesting way to end a season and set things up for something completely different in 2008.

It sure was . Now I hope the cops took pics as if the house burns there is no way to prove a crime :)

Did Nancy steal naked guys segway?

I almost wish this show wasn't coming back (as much as I like it) because that was such a fitting series finale.

But I'll take more Botwins next year, please.

... Loved it when the fireman (I'll take more of him too!) recognized the house from the "film", "Peckers of the Caribbean" :)

What exactly was the point of burning the house, all the pot was at Celia's. Well, I guess there may have been evidence at her house, if it's burned down she can just claim Celia is lying.

I liked the way the began this episode with the original version of the song, and then finished with Pete Seeger's version.

I think it was much more symbolic for Nancy. Psychologically, she needed to make the break from her current life in a pro-active way. Based on what the "muscle" said ("Maybe the fire won't reach your house and you can stay here forever") something clicked in Nancy and she needed to move on and not look back.

Doug with the banjo was HYSTERICAL!

Celia folded like a house of cards! Priceless.

"Why did you go into that burning building?"
"God told me to."
"Yeah, I'm over her now." :D

Very good season finale. I can't wait until Season 3.

I thought it was a disappointment for a season finale.
Sure, there's some "cliffhangers"...but it's a let down after the "intensity" of the S2 finale.

I thought it was the series finale the way it played out. Curious to see where this goes next season.

And I, too, LOVED the banjo!!!

"The Jesus freaks are singing..." :D

So who thinks S4 will pick up in Pittsburgh?

Also loved that they went back to the original theme song. Really hope it stays like that.

Doug with the banjo was HYSTERICAL!

As with many things, it echoed something used in the past. In this case, Stubby Kaye, in the brilliant (IMHO) 1965 film, "Cat Ballou" who wandered, from scene to scene with his banjo commenting on what was happening.

I thought Nancy was taking the opportunity to get her money out of her house. Remember she couldn't sell it because the market was so bad, but if it burns down she should be fully covered, right? So nice big fat check and she's outta there.

They won't pay her for the land; at best the replacement cost of the house on it.

I'll probably never have Showtime again, but I did enjoy this show. They killed my boy, U-Turn, though.

My Showtime promo expires in January. I'll call up the cable company then and ask for any other specials cause I gotta have my Dexter and L Word.

I also loved the bajo scenes.

You know this show is pretty great but it is not for MLP it is more for Nealon, Justin Kirk, Elizabeth Perkins and the lady who plays Heylia. All the stuff with Nancy and her sons I could give a flip about.

Even though I disagree, I totally can understand this sentiment. But, I think Nancy ties all the great, eccentric characters together very well.

Doug on the banjo was really hysterical. "Oh this is just like the Super-Du-Ome...."

Also, LOVED the song they played while Nancy was pouring the gasoline all over her house... "Keepsake" by State Radio (GREAT BAND!)

That was a pretty solid finale. They were really painting themselves into corners trying to write new stories for that town but the show always came up with a few more twists for us. I think a change of scenery will really help out the writers for next year. And if they get into a jam, just about every character that's still alive could end up plausibly relocating nearby given that the fire trashed most of the town.

I think they wrote the finale from a standpoint of possibly not coming back next year. I think they wanted to have a fitting end to the series if it wasn't picked up.

I loved the banjo songs - especially Doug singing in "tongues". :D

Nancy can't pay Guierrmo (or however it's spelled - the muscle guy) if she doesn't have a crop. Stupid move on his part. I guess he wasn't as smart as Nancy would've liked to think. They would've found her crop, though, due to the imaging of the cross, so I guess the fire was probably better for her than not.

I feel so bad for her son. He's bucked under the pressure. She needs to get him help in the worst way and she's hoping it will go away, for her own sake.

I am glad that they aren't portraying her life as being easy. You can see the progression of decisions and how she could go down those roads so easily.

Oh, and she was stupid not to know that Celia would cave at the earliest opportunity. Celia is all about covering her own butt, not anyone else's. Her character is the one I like the least out of all of this. What's funny is that her daughter is turning into her - you could see it during the evacuation with her dad. :D

LOVED it when the fireman ran the firehose through Celia's car windows :D

Why did she start the fire when her house was about to be torched anyways? To make sure it burned down?

Yes, she didn't want to be "lucky."

Hey, I got 90+ views and no replies on that thread, so maybe some of you guys will be happy to hear that the show was picked up for a 4th season!
