I am interested in getting Tivo2Go Plus, is there any free trial, or is it simply $25?
Also I have a laptop and PC, will I get a download KEY and can I use it for more than one PC?
Thanks,
Shane

Legally, MPEG2 codecs need paid for.
There may be free ones, but they violate the MPEG2 licensing rules by being given away.

Got it, I just read that in the Tivo 2 go section.
Thank you.

you can use it on multiple PCs as well. I have had it on 3 Pcs at various points, no idea if there is a limit

With the desktop plus, it is a $25 one time fee correct?
From there I can download it to my laptop and PC, and it will include the needed converter to play the transfered videos?
The issue I am having is I can transfer files from my HD tivo to my Laptop, but they will not play inside windows media player 11.

That's not what Desktop Plus was targeted to handle, it's meant for going from a PC to playing device. It might help and it might not. Look around in the appropriate sub-forums (the HD forum and the Home media features) for advice. I solved my codec problem several years ago, so can't help more.

Yes, the $25 is one time. It should apply to future versions (I am using the same key since 2.3).
It is unclear to me if the license can apply to more than one computer in your home. It is my belief that you can only have one computer per license, but you can do what you feel is right or okay to do.
Desktop Plus does in fact include playback MPEG2 codecs, although its original intent was for conversion to portables.

Thanks Guys, I appreciate it.
That was my assumption too, Desktop 2.3 Plus for $25 was for portable devices like the ipod or PSP, so I never put much thought into it.
All I am looking to do is play my transferred videos on my Laptop. For that is there any Codec I can download, or do I need to purchase something to play the video's?
Thanks all,
Shane

As I said,l legally, MPEG2 codecs need paid for, and you do pay for the better ones. There are free solutions though.

That did it, now I can play my videos on my Laptop from my Tivo HD.
Thanks much,
