SO many articles, so many problems. I just wanted to balance it with a cry out to those who have a working Tivo HD (or series 3).

My TivoHD was installed this August, almost as soon as it was launched. I had to restart a couple times to get my Showtime back -that issue has not returned for over a month.

So nock on Wood, it works as planned. No garbled video, no missing screens, and no issues. Anyone else?

Too bad I can't Take Dexter with me onto the PSP, but I will live.:)

I have 3 Series3 units with 2 Cablecards each and I am really pleased. My only issue is I still can not get my channel lineup changes to 'stick' - I have several Premium stations unchecked (e.g. Cinemax, Showtime, etc...) in the configuration, but they remain in my guide.... Other than that minor issue, the S3 units have been rock solid!!

My S3 and THD are working pretty much perfectly... I am having the same issue that tiivodog mentions - channels i receive changes dont stick. No big deal.

My tivo is working almost perfectly. It seems since the 9.2 upgrade, from time to time I get that fast forward issue where the video fast forwards for a second or two. It doesn't happen on all recordings. The first time I saw it I thought it was a cable issue and then I saw other people reporting the same issue so I guess its a bug in the new tivo software. Otherwise, I am not having any problems with it. Now if only SciFi would fix their audio issues. This past weekend the audio sounded like a record player that was losing power slowing down and then returning to normal. I could understand this happening on old video or film stock but I would not expect it to happen on newer film such as Flash Gordon or Atlantis. Oh well, its happened before and I expect it will happen again.:(

Other than it took Charter two trips to get my CableCards to work correctly, my THD is working great. Even accepted a My DVR Expander with no issues.

My Series 3, THD, Series 2, and Series 1 all work fine.

I am very happy with my Tivo HD. No problems at all. Even my Charter Cable guy, who had never installed a Tivo, was able to fire it up in a very short time period.

My only disappointment was that I bought the Tivo two weeks early and missed the lifetime deal. Oh well at least I have my Tivo to play with.

I've had my S3 with two SA CableCARDs for a year last week and had no problems (even the CableCARD install only took 20 minutes).

My THD with the WD Expander is humming along perfectly as well (also with two SA CableCARDs).

My only problem is with Brighthouse ... if they would just turn off the copy-protection on the digital tier that would make TTG/MRV a lot more useful to me.

I have 1 brand new S3 and an almost 4 year old Series 2, both are working great.

2 S3s with 4 CCs, non-TiVo external drives, all happy. Even after Comcast juggled their lineup twice in the last two weeks, TiVo Inc. has kept up with all the changes. Everything's great!

I watched Scifi on the DVR from Time Warner(in transition to my Tivo HD) this weekend and I didn't have any sound problems. Green Bay,WI Time Warner.Maybe its your cable company.

S3 since Sept. 15 last year --
1) Two lockups (rebooted fine)
2) Used to have stuttering video on SD programming only, but it seems that 9.2A has fixed that (so far)
3) 30SS still not fixed, but that's a software issue

Nothing else...that seems pretty good to me.

I'm just using OTA and I get better signal quality than cable. When I usually watch bionic woman the picture blocks out several times but not on the OTA signal. I'm really happy!

Ever since I received 9.2 I couldn't be happier. My S3 works perfectly according to my needs.

Series 3 since October 06, upgraded to 750 in December 06. Basically no issues at all, even cablecards went smooth.

I love love love my tivo.

Now with the new features (TTCB Specifically) I like it even more. It is probably good that I didn't have a good idea of how I could use TTCB for the year we didn't have it.

1 S3, since August. Had some lost sound issues that required reboots before the latest software update; so far, they have not recurred. I added an Antec enclosure with a 1TB WD drive about 2 weeks ago; so far, so good. The fan in the Antec was a little louder than I expected but I just put it behind a cabinet door.

Also 2 HDs, 3 of the 4 cablecards installed last Friday, the remaining one is supposed to be coming today. So far, no problems. I LOVE MRV!!!

S3 works great.
S2 chugging along like a champ.

Just resolved some network issues. Now MRV and TTG all working great. I'll be loading up some shows on my iPod for holiday travel.

DirecTivo for 7.5 years with NO PROBLEMS at all.

Series 3 with no problems for six months. Good idea for a thread.

Mine has been working fine for more then a month. But last week I was using antenna strength meter then all the backgrounds went gray and had to reboot to fix it.

I think the S3 is fine. I think the two issues I currently have are not related to the S3 itself. One is occasionally losing sound on ABCHD. It doesn't happen as much as it use to but still it happens. I actually think that might be something in the sound stream but I can't prove it. I would consider that a cable card matter.

The other is I can't get the Fox Financial Channel, which my cable company acknowledges is their problem but they have yet to fix it.

Since I never would look at FFC that is not really a problem.

So overall, I think it's doing well.

I was really happy until a couple of weeks ago when SDV has started to kick in my area...

MRV shows the wrong times for shows that you extend the recording time for. Suggestions have priority over regular recordings. Back to back recordings do not use the same tuner so you can't watch live tv anymore. So, no, my TiVos aren't being good to me.

Ran into one minor bug so far. When fast forwarding, at a certain point the Tivo inexplicably jumped forward in the recording. Was an analog recording.

No doubt all Tivo versions have bugs. If you haven't found any, it just means you don't use your Tivo much.

Let me start by stating that I like Tivo. I've owned 5 of them and recommended many.

This thread is actually quite sad. Intended to counter balance many of the threads reporting problems, very few of the posts in here are actually reporting problem free experiences. Even some of the positive posts have a but.

Are there really so few S3/THD users who are really completely problem free? I was until 9.2. Now my S3 has become very unreliable.

Check your guide's properties. It took me forever to figure out that it defaults to "all channels" instead of "channels I receive".

My Series 3 (with an external 500 GB eSATA) is behaving just fine, even connected via HDMI (through my Onkyo TX-SR674 to my Toshiba 46H84 RPTV). I just recently put it and the drive on a 750 VA UPS to keep things that way; after a recent power outage for no apparent reason (sunny Sunday morning, sky was clear, weather was nice), I decided to throw down and get one. Hopefully all will now stay happy... :)

Edit: Using Moto S-Cards, FYI...

It's not sad. The majority of people do not have problems with their S3. In fact I have seen quite alot of positive threads and they are usually the first to fall off the front page. You only hear from people who want to complain and quite honestly most of their complaints IMHO are frivolous. I'll probably get flamed for saying that but that's how I feel.

Even if it doesn't work as perfectly as everyone would like, it's still the best thing out there.

S3, everything about it works great. Fast transfers, external drive, everything good after 9.2

My 3 S2's.....MRV transfers used to transfer a best quality 1-hr show in about 15-20 minutes. Now, with 9.1, it takes 2 hours. To transfer a best quality 1 hour show from my pc takes 3 to 4 hours, if it works at all. About 50% of transfers from my pc fail entirely. They appear to start fine, then when I check hours later, there is nothing there.
I had very fast speeds before 9.1 on both wired, then wireless on my S2's and when they slowed to a crawl, I ditched the wireless and went with wired again. No change.

Very disgusted with my once dependable S2's.

Three S2s, all behaving great. All networked by wire. The 540 is slightly slower than the two 240s, but that's to be expected. There's even a Vista computer in the network with TTG that's running great, also, with auto transfers.

I expect to retire the 540 soon and replace it with at TiVo HD. I'm not expecting any problems with the replacement.

I have two Series 3 Tivos both with expanded storage via the eSATA port on the back. Everything has been working fine for months now. The only problems I have had are guide data problems ("To Be Announced") and of course the infamous 30 second skip and Instant Replay "static image" problem that many still have on HD programming.

I am getting my first wireless router on Friday and am planning on exploring some of the Network features on my two S3's. I will report back on that later. :)

Two S3 units which have been just fine for over a year. I had to do a few restarts when I expanded my second unit. Other than that no problems.

I just want to point out that the "but" in my post was about Brighthouse, not my TiVos.

I've been the proud owner of eight TiVos over the years. The only one that ever had a hardware failure was my very first TiVo, purchased back in August 1999 -- the modem died after five years.
