I have two R10s (in two different rooms) and they have both been spontaneously rebooting for over a month now. It doesn’t matter what I am doing (watching live TV, watching taped shows, pausing live TV, taping shows only, etc), it just shuts down and begins the restart process. At first it was just annoying and I was convinced it was DirecTV fixing something, but now it is cutting off most of my recordings and making playback/watching difficult. If it was just one of them, I would assume it was hard drive failure, but with both doing it at the same time, it seems like something else. Is there anybody who can help me? Thanks.

There are at least 4 threads within the first two pages of this forum
that deal with the rebooting issues. You should start by reading
those threads.

I feel your pain... My R10 would play fine for 5 minutes (max), then stutter, stutter, reboot... It even did it if I unplugged the Sat cables and watched recorded shows. I broke down and ordered a new 300GB drive from Weakknees, installed it and the unit has run flawlessly since (w/ sw ver 6.1). I just wish I could extract all the episodes of "Little Bear", "Lazy Town" and "Wow Wow Wubzy" that kept my kids at bay for hours on end from the original hard drive.

Based on a tip from someone on this forum I found that if I
disconnected the coax cables from the back of my DirecTiVo, powered
it up, and bypassed the "downloading data from sattelite"
to get into my Now Playing list I could watch all my recordings
without the system rebooting.

So, if you want to access your old disks recordings you may be
able to use this same technique. Of course you'll have to swap
hardisks which can be a hassle unless you do what I did and attach
a 5.25" IDE drive bay and insert you hardisks in caddies to
make swapping disks simple. :-)
