Is it possible to be "The Prince of R&B" when you lip sync in every performance?
Give me a break.
Talking about Chris Brown, obviously...great dancer, but I don't respect anyone that lip syncs.

Who was singing with Beyonce? Whatever group that was, I never want to come within 100 miles of them. Ick.

Sugarland.
I liked this... the lack of writers caused the intros and stuff to be fairly barebones, which was a refreshing change of pace. No forced camaraderie between people who would never even speak to each other in real life, no corny puns and so-called witty repartee... just "here are your nominees" and "and the award goes to..." and lots of performances.

So was this in ABC, right? I figured some crap like this was why the good shows weren't on tonight.

Has there been any screwups from jimmy kimmel
The producer said that he was going to be doing the show with no script

They did a bit at the beginning that might not have been "scripted," but it was certainly pre-planned. I'm not sure if that counts as writing, but they had to have pre-done something. And the presenters weren't reading faux-witty banter, but they were reading something off the prompter. I guess that doesn't count as writing, either.
As for Sugarland, they're usually much better than that. They were pretty bad tonight. Jennifer Nettles, the lead singer, is the female voice on the country version of Bon Jovi's "Who Says You Can't Go Home." What was with her pants tonight? When Beyonce started singing, I kinda liked the country arrangement of that song.

Most of the stuff on the teleprompters was the pre-written introductory remarks that PR people or agents write for their clients and provide to the telecast. (From what I know, many agents will have very specific ways they want their client to be introduced, and will usually write it themselves to emphasize certain things like what they're doing and recent major accomplishments.)
Past that point, there was very little to the script... everything else was either ad-libbed or written by the producers of the show. The show had a script, it just wasn't one written by anyone affiliated with the WGA.
(The bit at the beginning was just something based on a bit that Jimmy did on his show. On his show, he had Guillermo and Uncle Frank and such doing the dance with Soulja Boy.)

I caught a few minutes of it. I saw a band of 3 guys, possible brothers. They came busting through some doors with fake glass. One of them fell on his arse. It was pretty funny.

I didn't watch it...but I did turn my tv to ABC for a moment to hear Kimmel introduce the girls from High School Musical which was really bad... (in case you missed it, he said that his 14 year old came to him and said that he wanted to lose his virginity to these next presenters...) I just thought was in really really poor tasted...

I agree, that was a horrible intro.
Overall, I enjoyed this show more than any awards show I've viewed in a long time. Get the celebs out there, no forced jokes and stupid banter, and present the award or introduce the next act. Kept things moving along at a nice pace. Kimmel being an idiot every time he opened his mouth would probably have been the same even with "professionals" helping him with what to say.
I thought Sugarland and Beyonce was a strange pairing, but it worked for me. Don't think I'll be swtiching to country radio any time soon, but I liked the arrangement.

That was awesome. They built these guys up as the next huge teen idols, had hundreds of screaming teenage girls run down the aisle to simulate a concert with reactions a la the Beatles on Ed Sullivan, and then the lead singer takes one step and falls on his face. Awesome.

As someone said, that was Sugarland. And this one of the worst performances I've seen them do. I did not enjoy it and I actually like Sugarland.

I hadn't even heard of him until last night. You're right - dancing was great, lip-syncing was horrible.
I was NOT a fan of the Sugarland/Beyonce pairing. I'm not a fan of country and this confirmed why. I hate when country singers take rock/top 40 songs and try to make them their own.
Also, I wasn't expecting such a mellow Queen Latifah performance. It was good, but I think I'm just used to hearing her older "rap/R&B" stuff.
Miscellaneous fashion notes: So glad Celine decided to grow her hair back, Alisha Keyes had WAY too many sparkles going on, and Carrie Underwood's dress reminded me of a bunch of toilet paper squares just stuck to her. :p
