so is tivo.net able to transcode and feed the HDtivo .mkv files? I noticed it had in its list ".matroska" but not .mkv, so before trying go the conversion route and look for that kind of software, wanted to see if anybody knows if it'll work all right.

and while i'm at it, lemme ask this- if a source file is in 720p, what should i specify in the video bitrate under the ffmpeg settings? I've noticed that if i put it to something higher, it does convert lower resolution files to a bulkier file. But i'f i'm dealing with a source file that's already 6GB, i don't want it to get any bigger before i transfer it over. it's already taking long enough with 5GB expanded.

thanks.

I just went ahead and added .mkv to the list. If I use anything higher than Medium (2048kb/s) the transfer never finishes. I also have a problem with audio being one channel to the right with AC3, so I just go with MPEG-2. I need to play around with it more.
