Any help for a Canuck?

I have a modified Phillips DSR704 that has been a doorstop for me for years since DirecTV hacking died shortly after I got it.

I was wondering if there has ever been any modifications that might allow this box to be used as a media centre to stream video from my PC to my TV.

If not are these receivers of any use to Americans still? Could you still subscribe with it?
