Is the HD Tivo PLayer a Series 3?

I want to purchase the $299 player very soon and see that there are rebates offered. However, I can't figure out whether the HD player qualifies as a series 3 model?

There are 2 TiVo boxes capable of receiving HD, the TiVo HD and the Series 3 TiVo. The TiVo HD is $299 and the Series 3 I believe is $599 right now. They are 2 different pieces of equipment, if the rebate is only for a Series 3 then you cannot use it on the TiVo HD.

It is a member of the Series 3 family, however it's rebates will be for the "TivoHD" verses the rebate for the "Series 3" unit itself, which is the more expensive unit.

If you're looking to apply the "Series 3 $200 rebate" to a TivoHD, it won't work.
I'm not aware of any rebates yet that have applied to the TivoHD.

Read the fine print, it will tell you only applicable to model numbers starting with 648......
