I moved the series 2 into the bedroom as it doesn't work with the new HD TV in the living room. Just got a new hard drive replacement. TIVO backs up at night and the clicking sound is bothering me. Is there a way to reschedule the backups? Thanks!

What you are hearing is just the hard drive spinning and the TV program being written to the drive, you are not hearing a "backup". As far as I know, there is no daily "backup".
The TiVo hard drive is always spinning, and information is always being written to the drive 24/7.
Unfortunately, there is not much you can do, except put the TiVo in a cabinet or something to muffle the noise. What brand replacement drive did you get? I think Seagate is one of the louder drives on the market, but that is subjective.

I sent TIVO to Toshiba, so not sure what they put inside. I specifically don't record anything overnight, so I guess it's just new program info downloading. No way to put it on "hold" over night? Thanks for the quick reply.... ;)

jjberger2134 is correct...the TiVo hard drive is at work 24/7, it is buffering 30 minutes of all programming all of the time. You could try putting it on a channel that has no signal...that might quiet things down a bit.
If you are PC handy or know someone that is and have something other than a Seagate hard drive, the noise can be reduced with some tweaking. See this thread for more info (http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?p=5707945#post5707945).
FWIW Seagate hard drives for desktops can be noisy, however Seagate’s DB35 series of hard drives are designed for DVR use and are some of the quietest on the market.

Thank you for the good tip and the link. I'll try it out. Crickets, yes that's it!

Although this answer could start a Lilliputian war over the relative risks of cycling power in a Tivo, I ended up handling the same annoyance buying a $10 digital timer for the bedroom Tivo to shut off the power at 10 pm and restore it at 8 am. It is on the Internet during the day and seems to find time to get the guides and other update information. I have a couple of high priority dummy manual recordings set up to block the down time period to make life easier for the scheduler. So far I have seen no noticeable deleterious effect. I should also add that I have another Tivo in my living room that runs 24/7 and is my primary recording source.
