Kinda long~ Bear with me...
For those of you having trouble with your Tivo rebooting all the time, here's a possible problem. My Tivo started rebooting and cutting off recordings and such. I ran all the Kickstarts to no avail. So, I contacted Tivo Support and talked to a Brandon about getting my Tivo repaired or serviced. Very nice gentleman by the way and for $149.00, I could get a replacement Tivo and also keep my lifetime service in tact. So, after he took all my information he also told me that there have been some wireless USB adapters that have caused Tivo's to reboot. He said that the wireless adapters go bad and have caused rebooting problems. So, seeing as my wireless adapter, a D-Link DWL-122, hasn't connected for months (I have Starband Satelitte service and it won't connect...it will when I change to Wildblue next month), I disconnected the DWL-122 from my Tivo. I have been setting up numerous manual recordings since I unplugged the adapter and so far, I haven't had ONE reboot or partial recording on my Tivo! So, perhaps some of the wireless USB adapters are causing Tivos to constantly reboot!? I'm going to continue testing my Tivo and will report any reboot or partial recording to the forum. I've never seen this problem in a forum post so perhaps it's not common knowledge as of yet!?

Thanks for posting that info. Basically you're saying that if people are experiencing reboots they might want to try disconnecting their wireless adapter to see if that resolves the problem. I've seen the same advice for a "hard wired" connection and even for the coax cable...all indications of a localized issue.

FWIW you can get a TiVo wireless adapter for $39.99 w/free shipping at Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/TiVo-AG0100-Wireless-Network-Adapter/dp/B000ER5G6C/ref=pd_bbs_4?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1195319991&sr=8-4) right now. I know ours works perfectly and transfers are much faster than with our old D-link adapter.

BTW, The TiVo "Kickstart" diagnostics the OP refers to can be found on this thread (http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?p=5643823#post5643823).

Rich, sorry I didn't post enough info...I've already tried all the kickstarts and they didn't cure the problem. That's why I called Tivo support to get an exchange unit. So far, I've recorded about 8 programs ranging from 30 minutes to 2 hours. All recorded beautifully without any reboots or partial recordings! I'm continuing to test but lately, with the D-Link plugged in, I couldn't record ONE program without the Tivo rebooting or recording just a partial piece of the program. I plan on buying a new Tivo adapter and I thank you for the info...I think I paid over $50.00 for the same thing several months ago. I sent it back at the time cause I was trying to diagnose my mis-connection problem and it didn't fix it.
Rich, just ordered the Tivo adapter! Thanks for the info...much appreciated!

That's why I said "...TiVo 'Kickstart' diagnostics the OP refers to can be found on this thread." (You being the OP) The link is intended for others that will visit here and wonder just what the heck that "kickstart" thing is you were talking about. After all...it's not always about us. ;)

Excellent to hear things are back to normal!
