Ummm ... Stargate meets Dead Zone? Even the vision sound/visual effects were similar.
I'm losing interest in this show ... although "Just a little wraith humor" was a good line. :D

Dead Zone was EXACTLY what I was feeling when that first happened, then I remembered that USA & Sci-Fi are all owned under NBC, so it made sense then.
I thought it was a good episode. My only gripe is seeing a Samantha Carter essentially behind a desk vs. out in the field kicking butt and solving mysteries.
Also, I realize that Tala is pregnant in real life, but I hope that they don't make that a central focus. I mean, just shoot her from the waist up or something, like they did Katey Sagal on Married with Children. :)

Samantha Carter in Weir's job is a waste of a character.
Ronon is a useless sidekick. He's another wasted character.

This show has taken a turn for the worst to me. Maybe the second half of episodes will pick up.

i missed the last min or 2 due to sci-fi channel scheduling, and i really haven;t had the desire to fix it or watch it... even the 2 episodes I missed earlier this season.
Nothing really compelling going on...

I'm a die hard Stargate fan, I will keep watching. But, I've been EXTREMELY disappointed with what they've done with Sam. Dr Wier was better in that role. I would like to to see Sam back in the field. And I also don't think they are utilizing Ronan as much as they should be.

I think Amanda Tapping is in the same basic position as RDA was in his last few years--doesn't really want to be there, and they're making as little use of her as possible to prevent her from leaving altogether.

They should merge this show with Flash Gordon.
Ouch! Who threw that rock at me?

She looked rather bloated to me; I kept not recognizing her whenever she'd first appear onscreen during this episode.

They may be trying to convey the adjustment process of Sam the Field Team Member to Sam the Administrator for the character.
...or they just don't know how to write for her anymore.

The problem is that they needed a ratings boost and what better way to do it! They have Amanda Tapping under contract still so they thought they just stick her into SGA and ratings will soar....so where to put her?
1. Put her as the team leader...well no Shepard is the big star of the show so that won't work!
2. Make her the genius of the team! That won't work because they already have McKay
3. We could make her leader of the expedition! That's the route they chose and it's starting to suck badly.
I was against this from the start...her character has absolutely no experience in leading anything the size of the Atlantis expedition and her character was never good at barking orders. in SG1, they didn't even think her character was qualified to lead the SG1 team, much less the whole base...
I really hope that when her contract ends (this year) they will find a way to get Elizabeth back somehow in charge, or get someone else to lead the expedition...

Yes, the whole thing reeks of a marketing-driven ploy to drive up ratings. But it's backfiring; they way they're mis-using the Samantha Carter character is now turning off the fanbase.
Oddly enough, Samantha Carter isn't even a particularly deep or well-developed character, even after 10 seasons of SG-1. She was rarely more than the genius who came up with the answer in the nick of time.

Is the SG-1 continuity suddenly out the window? When Carter heard about the seer who predicted the future, she seemed surprised at the possibility, as if she hadn't remembered that Jonas Quinn had that ability for a time.

I really liked it when Sam and Rodney would get into all those technical arguments and Sam would prove Rodney wrong. They should figure out a way to have more of this. Maybe explore some unknown parts of Atlantis and find some new technology, like a super space cannon, or a room full of ZPM's, or a way to recharge ZPM's. :)

The problem is that that's not Sam's job anymore. She's an administrator, not a problem solver.
I couldn't stand the scenes in this ep where Sam was mouthing lines written for Weir's character, asking Rodney to explain the situation with the Wraith virus in baby terms. Sam should have been talking to Rodney on his level, but she wasn't. Sam was always a character that figured things out for herself; it's out-of-character watching her being dependent on Rodney for the very things she excels at.

precisely...Why wasn't Carter helping McKay? Wouldn't that be an option as well? I mean they are supposedly the smartest humans, but yet Carter doesn't even try before letting the Wraith help.
My hope is they lose her, bring back Weir, or someone new that is hard nosed and maybe inline with the IOA...that would cause a lot of interesting plot lines...

You hit the nail on the head there ... they just swapped actors, instead of characters.

Anyhoo.
As a Brit remembering certain appearances on the BBC's Children's story telling show Jackanory (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jackanory) & Doctor Who, it was nice to see Martin Jarvis still working, and on this side of the pond too.
However, a look at his IMDB page (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0419089/) shows that he is fairly active over here.

I wish they would give Ronon more to do. Basically he gets in a one-liner or two per episode. He needs to be kicking ass.

I wish they'd just shave him, fix that nasty hair and find a shirtless costume for him to wear all the time.

He definitely looks better there, but even with all the hair he still looks good.

I could perhaps handle the facial hair, but the octopus/jellyfish hairstyle must go.

I must have fell asleep watching this episode. What did the Seer predict for Atlantis?

Complete destruction by what looked like (to me) a nanite ship.

But was it the Atlantis that the humans are in, or the duplicate Atlantis that the Nanites built and are using? There was no context to the vision, just the event itself.

I liked him as a more active character too. I especially liked the scene in another episode where a bunch of them were being held on a Wraith ship. Ronin(?) is throwing knives at the door mechanism - there are quite a few embedded in the wall...
(paraphrasing)
McKay: "How many of those have you got?"
Ronin: "How many do you need?"
