I bought my first S3 a month ago, signed up for the 9.2 priority update, enabled TTG/MRV and liked it soo much I just got another S3. They both got cablecards installed yesterday. CC's work fine, though I dont get the encrypted channels because they did not input the tivo serial numbers into their system.
The new S3 is running 8.0 series firmware, and freakin reboots every 40-60 minutes. Is this due to poor quality factory software, ie tivo rushed the S3 out the door with alpha/beta code and not production ready/stable software?
Can I force it to upgrade to 9.2? Im disappointed with the second S3.:(

TiVo had an update for S3 available about the same time that people got it hooked up. TiVo didn't stop working on the software when the boxes were assembled and packaged for retail.
Force a connection to the Tivo service under Settings -> Phone & Network. The Phone & Network screen will say "Pending Reboot" when there is an upgrade awaiting installation.
Once you see that "Pending Reboot" on the Phone & Network screen, go to Settings -> Reboot and reboot the Tivo. That will install the software.

Update it by all means but if it continues to reboot it's a hard drive problem. At that point exchange it.
