"Tell her she's got tig old bitties!"
"Tell her her butt is round like an apple and you want to take a bite".

I'm surprised he didn't say, "Tell her you love her so much you want to take her behind the junior high school and get her pregnant!" :)

"Can we have our money now?" OMG, that's about as blatant a rip on product placement as you can possibly get. It was so harsh I thought that there's no way Verizon actually paid for that, but in the closing credits, there it was: "Promotional consideration paid for by Verizon Wireless".

That is kind of funny that Verizon would pay for that, but I guess any publicity is good.

I loved the guy from SNL playing the "terrorist" but all he really wanted was to get on the Amazing Race. And the whole Northrax bit was funny how it smelled like maple syrup.

I guess the writers on 30 rock are getting sick of all of the product placment, Tivo has been doing a ton of product placement on shows as well, this week Tivo was even a part of the plot for "Til Death"

I preferred their jokes about snapple ad placement in season 1. But I did like this episode. I love it when they bring up the wig company.

When in the episode did that happen? I just watched the episode after having read this thread, so I was waiting for it, but it must have slipped right past me.

Comedy show. They made a joke. They got paid for it. You never saw a funny commerical before?

I don't see it as an indication of any stance on product placement. Unless they are total hypocrites. (See the part about getting paid for the ad.)

Unless you went into a petit mal epileptic seizure during the episode, I can't see how you could possibly miss it.

Liz is in Jack's office, telling him how she's suspicious of her neighbor and she's not sure what to do about it. As Jack is giving her advice, his phone rings, only it's not his phone, it's C.C.'s phone. Turns out they accidentally swapped phones "the morning after". As Jack leaves he says something like, "It's an understandable mistake; these Verizon Wireless phones are so great that everyone has them.", then Liz stands there in the center of the screen and says to the departing Jack, "Yeah, I know. Everytime I see one of those Verizon Wireless phones, it just makes me want to say, 'Hey! Where is the nearest Verizon Wireless retailer so I can get one'", then she looks right into the camera and says, "Can we get our money now?"

I can see how their bosses make the deal and tell the writers to make the placement. The writers have no say in the matter, but they make their displeasure known with the way they implement the orders.

No hypocrisy there.

"

How funny. Admittedly, I don't pay full attention while I watch tv - usually, I'm on the computer. But I distinctly remember the line right before it ("Last night, I.. never mind") and I think I tuned in again when CC comes out of the elevator. (First time through, I also missed Kenneth and "$400!")

I wonder if my brain's just been finely tuned to block out commercials, even when I'm looking for them...

C.C.: "I'm working out of the Clinton offices for a few weeks. I'm helping Hillary retool her universal health care platform."
Jack: "God, I want to kiss you on the mouth to stop you from saying such ridiculous things."

That might've been the loudest laugh-out-loud moment I've had while watching television in the past five years.

What about the news crawl on the TV Jack was watching when he discovered CC was a Representative?

Something like "crawl affected by writers strike - news items repeated from last season"?

Oh, I get it, Romeo and Juliet - Capulets and Romulans...
That was the line that brought tears to my eyes. Even better than the Colonial Williamsburg line last week :D

The cast of 30 Rock is performing an "episode" of the show at an improv comedy theater in NYC tomorrow night.

SNL did it last night.

I wonder if either one will be recorded and eventually leaked.

Man, I hope so! They said the SNL performance was dirtier. That sounds like fun to me. :)

Eh, I thought this was the weakest ep this season. It just didn't click with me.

I thought it was a great episode. Jack playing Bacharach on the piano was a riot, not to mention the other hilarities that have already been brought up on this thread. The reveal of "D.... Vermont" for Jack was priceless.

Given the writers strike, I thought the Verizon ad unintentionally(?) took on an additional meaning with the "can we get our money now" comment.

Now that you re-mention Vermont, I'm kind of surprised that they didn't connect that up with the maple syrup smell.

Whaaa? Whaaaaaa? WHATTTTTT!!!????

I can only guess is that you watched the show last night after watching the Patriots put 56 up on your hometown Bills. Otherwise I am lost for words.

I didn't see this one at first but the guy staying with Liz was watching the same lifetime show at the very beginning of the episode that they talked about later on.... the dog shot me in the face one.

Which, by the way, was a reference to an actual event that happened here in New York City several months ago. The air smelled like syrup and no one could figure out why and 911 got more than a few calls from people panicking about it.

I forget what it turned out to be, but I'm guessing that the line Jack had about wind patterns and a food factory in Staten Island was also a reference to the actual cause.

Very interesting. I had not heard/read about that. (http://www.google.ca/search?q=NY+maple+syrup+smell&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a) I thought it was just a wacky notion the writers cooked up.

I like this quote (http://www.ny1.com/ny1/content/index.jsp?stid=1&aid=54578):
In a city full of foul aromas, a mysterious sweet smell is receiving a lot of attention after residents throughout Manhattan began reporting it Thursday night.
