Hi everyone,
I have been doing my homework on these forums after our Phillips HDR212 (series 1) finally shot craps. We also purchased a new(er) series 2 after the old one stopped working. After jumping around doing research, I am thoroughly confused now.
Here's my situation: I have a Phillips HDR212 that stopped making the daily call. I am fairly confident that it is the modem that has died in the HDR212. I bought series 2 Tivo to replace the HDR212. I would like to try either the Turbonet or 802.11b (wireless) adapter in my old HDR212 and configure it to work with the new Tivo downstairs on a network. We have a wired network already in place but it would be impractical to spread the wires between the Tivo and that room (and even more impractical from the old tivo upstairs to the wired router downstairs). I have been thinking about adding a wireless network hub to the tivo downstairs (series 2) and using the Airnet card
(802.11b) in the series 1 upstairs to add it to the wireless network. This would put both tivos on the same wirless network?
Would it be better to use a wired configuration? Would the AIRnet wireless adapter hooked to the series 1 be easily compatable with the wireless router? Is there any way to get my old series 1 back up and running along with my series 2 on the same network?
I have been considering the D-Link Rangebooster (DIR625) router with the Tivo usb adapter downstairs (for the series 2) and the AIRnet adapter upstairs for the series 1?
I should mention that the series 2 is in a place where we already had to use a remote telephone jack, so downloading and calling can be sketchy and we will need to come up with a better permanent solution for connectivity anyway.
Can someone help me clear the fog? :o
