I have a series 2. Just bought a tivo wireless adapter. Re-ran setup and all is good. Nework settings seem to be working fine. I have connected to Tivo service and re-started the box. I have updated my profile at tivo.com turned on share and have the media key in place in both the tivo and application prefs. I have even waited several days and re-started the box several times to see if anything magical happens...

Here's my problem. I run Tivo Transfer from the Toast 8 Extras menu. In the window the name of my dvr shows up ( this is a good thing). When I click on the name, no program listings (Now Playing list) appear. I wait and wait until it times out. There are a few "flickers" on my wireless adapter but nothing major is happening.

I'm on a mac running 10.4.9. Toast version 8.0

Any help is appreciated.

I am running good ole Tiger though.I'm running Leopard and just upgraded to a series three HD. I have a ton of shows saved on my Mac from my old TiVo and have no idea how to get them back onto my new TiVo.

I have the media key in place... network settings correct. IP added to the TiVo... no computer icon shows up in Now Playing and the Tivo Transfer app has no "send to DVR" function. It's kind of retarded actually. They make it super easy to download to your computer but impossible to get back...

You need to move your recordings (or shortcuts to their location) into the "My TiVo Recordings" folder. If that folder is empty your computer won't show up on the NPL.

You may need to restart your TiVo server after adding your recordings to the folder for the first time.

Sorry I do not have an answer to your question, but I have a question for you regarding toast. Is that what you use to burn DVD's on a Mac? I just purchased a Mac and have downloaded a show from my Tivo to the Mac. I am now trying to burn it to a DVD. If in fact that is what you use to burn it to a DVD, where did you get the package?

TIA

You've turned on the (unsupported) feature that actually allows you to transfer video back to your TiVo in TiVo Desktop, right? You need more than TiVo Desktop for this to work.

FYI, if the files are in .TiVo format, they still may not show up even with this feature turned on, depending on the version of the TiVo software running on the TiVo when you transferred them. A change in the file metadata in (I think) 9.1 broke transfers from the Mac back to the TiVo, and since the feature in TiVo Desktop is unsupported (i.e. it's a hidden feature that we figured out how to turn on) there's been no update to fix it yet.

Toast is the official solution for burning TiVo files to DVD, yes. You can buy it online at Roxio's store (www.roxio.com) or any number of places that sell Mac software. There are almost always deals or coupons for less-than-retail pricing (I check dealmac.com for stuff like that.)

Thanks, I will look into it. In the mean time I downloaded "TivoDecode Manager" which takes care of the download and converting to MPG-4. However I still need to be able to edit out the dreaded commercials.

Not sure I can decipher your description but I think you need to download and install the new version of TiVo Desktop - 2.6.1

Thanks Rocko. Isn't TIvo Desktop for PC? - WHich I Just Purchased- on your advice- but I have all these transferred programs on my ext HD - attached to my Mac.. would be nice to do this all with my mac. It seems as I can see my mac on the Now playing page- it only makes sense to be able to access this data - just like my other networked Tivo machines. Now when you go to that icon - it says no shows ... Where should the folder be for My Tivo Recordings be .. could this be the solution??... Even when i went to home and My tivo recordings and put some shows in there - tivo still does not see any shows. Frustrating!! I Have Toast 9 - but I'll have to call Mon . Any Sug Thanks!

There was a problem with TiVo Desktop that Windows users solved by updating to new new version - it installed a new certificate. The symptom was the Now Playing List was showing the user's computer but no recordings.

I was under the impression that you were running TiVo Desktop for OS X and having the same problem that Windows users were encountering and the fix was the same. Maybe not, however.

Edit: Definitely my bad. TiVo Desktop functionality with Mac <> TiVo Desktop (TTG) for Windows functionality. Sorry.
