Hey all,

I have upgrade my Series 2 single tuner about a year ago using Instantcake, couldn't have been easier.

I just purchased a New Series 2 DT Tivo and a new 500GB drive. I have baked the drive and ready to install it into the new Tivo.

Should I plug in the Tivo and get everything up and running on the original drive and then swap in the new one? Or does it really matter? When I upgraded my series 2 ST it was already up and running for about a year before I did the upgrade. This would be the first upgrade I have done right out of the box.

BTW this new DT is taking the place of a DT I already have set up and running. I'll be upgrading that one soon.

Thanks,

Alex

It doesn't really matter. Since you already baked the new drive with Instantcake (hopefully the correct one for a DT), you should install it right away and let it set up and upgrade.

If you were going to copy from the original drive to the big one, I'd say you should set up the original drive first and give the TiVo a few days to "break in", before copying the drive.

Classicsat,

I used the correct Instantcake for the DT. I guess either way really doesn't matter. If I ever needed to put the original drive back in it would setup and DL to the latest Tivo software.

Thanks for the reply.
