View Full Version : DT bug? Buffer full, pause jumps to live

Searched for this, but couldn't find any comments...sorry if it's been discussed.

I have a new Dual Tuner and here is the example scenario:
- on CH 10 tuner1, press pause, press Live TV to switch to tuner2
- watch CH 3 on tuner2, after 30 mins, press pause, press Live TV to switch back to tuner1
- tuner1 is now at the head of the buffer (most current end of buffer) instead of playing from the oldest part of the buffer - the buffer is still all there, so it didn't wipe out the buffer but it's playing from the live end

This seems like a bug, once the buffer fills when paused it should just start playing from that point and that's what I should see playing when I switch back, but it's basically gone to the live end of the buffer.

Thoughts on why it's doing this?

Thanks

Isn't that what the Live TV button is supposed to do?

This is the same thing that happens if you try to pause TV and then access the TiVo menu, when you leave the menu it goes to live and not to where you paused. This is true on single tuners as well.

I would agree that Live TV button should take you to the newest end of the buffer if you're talking about one tuner. But in the case of the Dual Tuner, it's supposed to toggle between tuners.

For example:
On Tuner1 - Watch CH 10, pause, push Live TV (toggle to tuner2)
On Tuner2 - Watch CH 3, push Live TV (toggel to tuner1)
Back on Tuner1 - CH 10 is still pause where it was left

Above is the expected behavior with the Dual Tuner model.

Where the problem shows up is in that same example, except you don't go back to Tuner1 until after 30 minutes and the Tuner1 buffer has filled - so now when you toggle back to Tuner1 it's playing (which is expected), but it's playing live TV instead of the oldest part of the buffer.

Isn't that what the Live TV button is supposed to do?

tivozealot, i also have a new dual tuner (which i love) that i can play around with.

I also noticed that if a tuner (or both) has a full 30 minute buffer and you pause it and then switch to the other tuner, when you switch back it will still be paused but it moves your paused point forward in time.

It seems that the paused point moves with the buffer instead of staying at the same point and the buffer moving around it.
